📣Brits will need €7 visa waiver to travel to EU next summer

EU officials have confirmed that Britons travelling to Europe next summer will need to apply for a visa waiver.

The visa waiver will cost €7 for people aged 18-70. There will be no charge for children and those over 70.

It will last for three years, or until the holder’s passport expires, whichever comes first.

Passengers will need to apply online or via a mobile app. Most applications will be approved within minutes, say officials, although they have warned it might take up to 72 hours or even up to a month for more complex cases.

As part of the application process, ‘full disclosure’ is required regarding an applicant’s background, including travel history and any criminal record.

🚨UPDATE IT Outage: Tips To Support You🚨

Most of you know I am currently away but there are always things that pop up to keep us on our toes, right?!

With yesterday’s IT outage causing much disruption to travel plans globally, I still want to be here to support you with some tips to guide you through it:

✈️ Many flights are still being cancelled today and we’ll continue to see some disruption over the coming weeks. If you are due to travel soon, keep a close eye on communications from your airline in case there are any changes to your flight. Please consider allowing yourself extra time at the airport, too.

📱If you have the airline app, turn your notifications on for live updates and keep up to date with the news.

📢 Airlines do have a duty of care. Therefore, under UK law, you have important legal rights on many flights to, from, or within the UK. Those affected on short-haul flights are entitled to food and drink if delayed by more than two hours. Airlines are also obliged to provide hotel accommodation to any passengers stranded overnight.

🔄 I’ve already been in touch with my clients that may be affected, but I’m also a WhatsApp away if you still need some guidance. My clients will take priority but I will try my best to help those who need some support too.

📣Are you affected by the 10-year rule?

You have all probably seen lots of news around holiday makers going to the EU that have been caught out by the 10 year passport rule.

Here is some guidance:

▫️If your passport was issued between March 2014 and September 2018 you could be affected

▫️If it was issued more than 10 years ago it is invalid for travel to EU countries including Iceland, Norway, Lichtenstein and Switzerland, but not Ireland

▫️If you are going to these countries you must have a passport issued less than 10 years before your departure date

▫️If your passport is invalid you can try and book an emergency appointment online at your nearest passport office

ℹ️Otherwise passports can be renewed online by HM Passport Office or by using a paper application form certain Post Offices.
It can take up to three weeks to renew a passport from the UK, but it can take longer.

As an independent travel consultant, I always ensure my clients have all the information needed, prior to booking but also in preparation before departing.
