Via - for County Homeowners on September 24!

On Saturday, September 24, Miami-Dade County Government's Division of Environmental Resources Management will be giving two FREE trees to Miami-Dade County single-family and duplex homeowners in attendance through its popular program. The event will take place at South Miami-Dade Cultural Arts Center (10950 SW 211 Street, Cutler Bay, FL 33189) from 9 AM to noon. Trees will be given on a first come, first served basis.

The following trees will be distributed (while supplies last):
🌳Jackfruit
🌳Carambola
🌳Locustberry
🌳Jamaican Caper
🌳Crabwood
🌳Firebush

The program is designed to strengthen our community's tree canopy and the trees selected for adoption are well adapted to our subtropical climate and provide good shade as they mature. Since the program began in 2001, more than 217,000 trees have been adopted.💚

Via - Starting Monday, September 12, 2022 the City of Homestead will conduct routine sewer line smoke testing. The testing is a routine preventative maintenance test to identify leaks, defects, and stormwater inflows in the sewer system to improve wastewater treatment operations and efficiency. Residents will notice smoke test crews in neighborhoods over the next few weeks Monday through Friday from 8:00AM to 5:00PM, weather permitting. Residents will receive door-hangers with additional information as crews move through neighborhoods to conduct testing.

Smoke testing consists of placing smoke in pipes and sewer lines and will be visible coming out of manhole covers and vent stacks in roofs and you should not be alarmed. You may notice small amounts of smoke inside your home, but please be advised the smoke is non-toxic, odorless, and safe for people, plants, and animals. Residents will not need to be present in the home during testing.

Via : On Saturday, August 27, 2022 the City of Homestead will commemorate the historic 30th anniversary of Hurricane Andrew from 12pm-5pm at the Homestead Cybrarium.
The event will feature the unveiling of the Hurricane Andrew Virtual Reality Experience as well as kids’ learning and craft activities. Attendees will enjoy hurricane-related workshops by the National Weather Service and Florida International University as well as a diverse panel discussion that will feature firsthand accounts from community members who lived through the devastation and recovery.

Via : Thank you to everyone who voted in our Movie Night Poll. It was a close call, but the winning movie was Sing 2, receiving 57 of the 152 votes cast. It was followed closely by The Bad Guys with 45 votes, Sonic the Hedgehog 2 with 32 votes, and Space Jam: A New Legacy with 18 votes.
