Connecting with the locals is one of the many reasons I love to travel. However, in some countries it feels more easier said than done! Sometimes there are language barriers, sometimes the thought of heading to a completely unknown destination just feels overwhelming and you don’t know where to begin, but do want to encounter those experiences - yes, even for a travel agent sometimes the best way is a group tour!

Over the past few years of traveling, guided tours have gradually won me over. TRAVEL NEED TO KNOW IN 2025

1. EU Entry/Exit System (EES): From early 2025, the EU will fully implement a new digital Entry/Exit System. This tracks non-EU travellers entering or leaving Schengen Area countries (like France, Spain, and Italy) by scanning passports at automated kiosks. While this will improve border security, initial delays are expected at busy ports like Dover and Calais. Plan extra time for crossing borders.

2. ETIAS Travel Authorisation: From May 2025, British citizens visiting the Schengen Area must apply for an ETIAS travel authorisation. This online application costs €7, and approval can take a few minutes to several days. Apply early to avoid issues at check-in or immigration.

3. Tourist Taxes in Spain and Italy: If you’re heading to popular destinations like Barcelona, Mallorca, or Venice, note that local authorities are increasing tourist taxes in 2025. These fees (charged per night for accommodations or visits to busy landmarks) fund sustainability efforts. It’s a small cost, but worth budgeting for.

4. Faster Entry into the U.S.: Travellers entering the U.S. can now use the CBP Mobile Passport Control app to speed up border processing. Many airports also offer facial recognition for quicker identity checks. Download the app before you travel to reduce wait times.

5. EHIC to GHIC Transition: The European Health Insurance Card (EHIC) was replaced by the Global Health Insurance Card (GHIC) in 2020. All remaining EHICs will expire in 2025. Check your card's expiry date and apply for a free GHIC on the NHS website.

UAE Series: Part 2 | Dive into Abu Dhabi


Abu Dhabi is a place that has something to offer everyone. It's very diverse and it owns traces of various cultures.

🍴Here, you can enjoy any cuisine, but if you want to sit on the floor and eat local food, be sure to visit Al Mandi & Al Madhbi House in Abu Dhabi. Don't expect a fancy restaurant, this is more like a local fast-food place, but you can sit on the floor and enjoy local food with your fingers. If you are a fan of sushi like me, Siddharta Lounge by Buddha-Bar is a place for you!

🕌 What you surely don't want to miss in Abu Dhabi is the Mosque Of The First Sheikh Zayed Bin Sultan - Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque. I know that you must have heard of it, and yes it is so magnificent!

🕋 Less magnificent is the Louvre, in my opinion. There is no order, you would see an ancient artifact next to Picasso But I think it's worth seeing. I am a huge fan of the Louvre in Paris instead

🥂 For a night out or brunch, Iris at Yas Island is my favorite place! And brunch in Abu Dhabi is a thing - you drink all day and all night

🏰 Emirates is a symbol of luxury and so is Emirate Palace, 7 star hotel. If you like luxury, be sure to visit it!

🐫 If you are not so much fascinated by luxury, as me, I would suggest you try camping in the desert.

🏖️ When it comes to beaches, they are all amazing here - that’s coming from a beach girl - but the ones that I would separate are Zaya Nurai Island and Moon Island Resort.

🎢 There are many more places to visit in Abu Dhabi, like Ferrari World and Warner Bros World, but these are some of my highlighted places
