Coming July 24th, Genie+ is being rebranded. You will be able to select 3 rides for each park day that you wish to pay for the service and up to 2 individual lightning lanes you might want to buy. These selections can be made 7 days before your check in when staying on site (3 days ahead for other travelers).

Before traveling, learn about your cell phone plan and coverage.

*Call your cell phone carrier shortly after booking your trip. Learn about your coverage. Ask about available add ons.

*Before buying an Internet package on that cruise ship or at your resort, research the strength of coverage and compatibility with your phone.

*If you are traveling internationally or in other ways "out of network", compare the potential fees to the cost of buying a replacement SIM card (if your phone allows) or cheap phone in destination.

*Consider using only WiFi by keeping your phone in airplane mode. Arrange to communicate with friends and family through social media messaging or Skype.

*Download before you go! Save files or take photos to save information to your phone so it is accessible offline. Include screenshots of area maps, bus/subway routes, etc for navigating.

*Make a plan in case your phone is lost, broken, or stolen. How many numbers do you know by heart? Write down some important ones!

As I'm on my cruise vacation, I thought it fitting to share some cruise tips with you:

*Research (or better yet, work with a travel advisor) the personality of the cruise line, the features of the ship, and the ports to visit. Don't book just based on price!

*Passports may be optional for most cruises (traveling instead with ID and birth certificate), but are still encouraged.

*Give some thought to the cost vs benefit of the drink package and WiFi access which are extra on most cruise lines.

*Develop a communication method to stay in touch with fellow travelers or family back home. Don't count on the ship's WiFi signal (even when purchasing a package).

*Research port excursions. Purchasing from a vendor that is not the cruise line can save money but comes with risks.

*Read the FAQs especially for what can or cannot be brought on board such as extension cords and drinks. These rules vary by cruise line.

*Book early for the best deals! The "last minute" savings are becoming scarce due to increased popularity of cruises.
