Throughout 2024 and into 2025, Opportunity Appalachia will select 30 high-impact projects to each access $30,000 – $60,000 in technical assistance in areas such as design, business planning, market studies, and financial structuring, and assist in the development of investment prospectus, creation of project pitch videos and presentations, and make connection with investment sources. Apply by 4/12.

Get ready to find your favorite caffeine craving in ! ☕️

We are adding a coffee bar to the diner! We are hoping everything will be up and ready by next week! Drink Menu being finalized! When available I will have copies to hand out! One more thing starting November 11th “Spill the Beans “ will be open on Saturday’s 8-12 through December to see if this is something wanted in our community! Limited Breakfast Will be Available! NOT a full breakfast but options to choose from! Come see us and shop local stores for the holidays! Will update when more information is available! I am excited about this new adventure! I hope you are to!

— Designed and built by Joseph W. Yost in 1887, the Perry County Courthouse totaled only $143,000. The style of the building is known as Richardson Romanesque, named after architect Henry Hobson Richardson (1838–1886). The revival style incorporates 11th and 12th century southern French, Spanish and Italian Romanesque characteristics.

... Roses 🌹 used to bloom in the winter in Perry County? Located in , Robinson's Cave was once a secret meeting ground for coal miners fighting for fair pay and safer working conditions. This series of historic meetings is why Robinson’s Cave is referred to as the secret birthplace of the United Mine Workers. The cave was also where non-union miners met to plan to set the Columbus & Hocking Coal & Iron Company mines on fire in a desperate attempt to end the Hocking Valley Strike. By 1936, the fires burned all the coal in a 36 square mile area. Thousands of tourists paid 25 cents to see guides cook eggs over fire holes and make hot coffee directly from a well.

Ripley’s Believe It or Not and local landowners marketed this as, “The World’s Greatest Mine Fire," which still burns to this day.

in 1813, Commodore Oliver Hazard Perry (the man who Perry County, Ohio is named after) and his men defeated the British in the Battle of Lake Erie. Just before the engagement, Perry hoisted a battle flag that read, "Don't give up the ship."

The victory was a turning point in the war of 1812. It secured control of the lake and helped ensure that Ohio and Michigan would remain sovereign territories of the United States. This painting by William Henry Powell is titled “Perry’s Victory” and hangs in the Ohio Statehouse rotunda.
