❕️Summer 2015 VS Now ❕️

❓️ How to pick the right hotel and the right time to visit Cappadocia ?

There are tons of hotels in Cappadocia, and the prices fluctuate so much that it can be confusing if it is worth investing so much.

The first time we went, we stayed in Kelebek Special and we loved it. It was in the middle of Goreme with an amazing view towards the balloons. We picked it as the hotel was authentic, and they were offering a local breakfast tour, which allowed us to meet the local people.

The stay was lovely, but Goreme summertime is somewhat hectic. It is full of tourists, and it is hard to feel the real Anatolian vibe.

This time around, we decided to stay in Cavuşin which is the next village, but is much more laid back and quiet (after all, we are older now, and tranquility is appreciated). We decided to stay at Seki Cave Hotel (owned by the same person as Kelebek), and the experience was as lovely.

In the morning, the view on the balloons is not as dramatic, but the landscape is breathtaking.

The bottom line is that Goreme and Cavuşin are only a few km away, but they are definitely made for different types of tourists.

In addition, this time around, we decided to visit in the winter (temperatures were still above zero), and trust me, it was a win for bargaining prices, for doing hikes that back in the days were done in sweat and of course for less tourists (amen!).

Overall, if you don't plan on going more than once maybe a hotel in the center of Goreme would be your best choice, if not, stay away from the buzz of the crowds and enjoy Cappadocia by laying low in the neighbor village.

✨️Let's talk about the ideal trip to Cappadocia✨️

It is the second time we have traveled here and still didn't see everything. Let's be honest we all try to squeeze it in our trip to Istanbul, but the truth is, Anatolia region is gorgeous!

If you are one of those people who has unlimited vacation, then ideally, you will need 5 days to see the top attractions. On the other hand, if you are like us, on a tight time, 3 days can do.

This sais, check the perfect itinerary 3 days ⬇️

✅️ Day 1:
• Arrive at the hotel.
• Explore the city of Goreme, and if you love Instagramable locations, visit Galerie Ikman for their carpet known shop. You might need to pay to take pictures, tho.
• End the day with a trail in Love Valley for sunset.

✅️ Day 2:
• Go to the hot air balloon.
• Enjoy a tasty turkish breakfast at your hotel while you still get to enjoy the balloons in the air.
• Head to the Zelve Archaeological Site before the big groups arrive for some amazing pictures.
• Stop at Cavusin for lunch. We recommend the family own restaurant, Cafe Old Turkish House.
• Continue towards the Rose Valley for some hike and without missing the numerous cave churches.
• End your day at Sunset Point, or if you prefer activities, take a sunset horse ride.

✅️ Day 3:
• (Make sure to have this morning empty in case the previous day the weather was bad and the ballon ride was rescheduled).
• Drive up to Derinkuyu Underground City and explore the amazing below ground city that sheltered up to 20,000 inhabitants.
• Move up to Selime Cathedral for pictures or if you are a Star Wars fan.
• Get back to the hotel, pack your things, and cry !

❗️ Important, we purposely didn't include the Goreme Open Air Museum as we found it was not worth the money or the time. The caves in the Rose Valley and Zelve Archaeological sites were much more worth it.

‼️ There are many more attractions we didn't mention as 3 days is a short period of time. For us, this is the perfect introduction itinerary to the area.

Stay tuned for info regarding how to book the activities, in which village should you book your hotel, best time to visit, and our hotel recommendations!
