When the camel thinks he can fit on your lap….
Have you held a cuddly camel before?
Morocco. Shouldn’t you see it for yourself?
We all watch for animals along the road, right? Well, it’s really cool when you see a whole herd of camels walking down the road like they own it.
This rooster gets to look at this landscape Every. Single. Day!
As you travel through the High Atlas Mountains you are treated to gorgeous sights like this at every turn.
You’ll also see vendors along the roadside. The rack in front of the car is loaded with clusters of sweet, fresh dates, just as they grew on the tree. At other stops you may see fossils, ceramics, fresh honey, or even spring water.
Are you considering a trip to Morocco in December? For the New Year?
Book now! Hotels and riads fill quickly.
Imagine looking at this view of Morocco’s Atlas Mountains every day like that rooster does… All those colors! It’s just gorgeous!
🏜We cross the old tracks of the Paris Dakar Rally. 🏜
Although the rally no longer passes through Morocco 🇲🇦, you can feel like a real driver traveling the offroad roads.
Would you dare? 😎
The Hassan II Mosque in Casablanca I’d the second largest mosque in Africa. (The largest one is in Algiers, Algeria.) The minaret is over 680 feet high! I think it looks even higher because it was built right on the Atlantic coast - there are no big mountains or tall buildings to compete for the view.
Like all mosques, this one is open to all Muslims for daily prayers and for Friday services. The unique and traveler-friendly difference is that they offer guided tours for guests of all religious backgrounds. It’s gorgeous and well worth a visit if you are curious.
Another stunning landscape from the Atlas Mountains. ❤️ 🇲🇦
Purple ripples in the sand.
It’s the Sahara desert. The sand is usually orange, but if you’re there at sunset, you’ll see a lot more colors. (That’s prob ably also true at sunrise, but honestly - I tend to oversleep.)
If you have a picture with another sand color, we’d love to see it! Please let us know which desert, too! TIA
This comes from the parking lot of the Berber Women’s Cooperative for Argan Oil in the Atlas Mountains of Morocco just east of Marrakech. Highly recommend a visit to see how the oils are made and to enjoy some delicious mint tea or coffee.
Tajines
When you get home from a trip, one of the first things people ask you about is the food. When you get home from Morocco, you will be talking about tajines.
The word tajine refers to both the iconic cooking vessel and the meal which is prepared inside. The shape of the vessel is brilliant, especially for dry, desert areas. The “cone” allows a lot of steam to condense and circulate back to the food. That means you can cook a long time without adding a lot of water. Genius!
So what’s inside? Looking at the pictures you probably already guessed it’s whatever you want. There is usually a sauce made by cooking down onions, garlic, and tomatoes. Next comes a hunk of meat - chicken, goat, lamb, or sometimes beef. Around that are layers of cut veggies. It all cooks together on a stove top or in an open fire until the meat is done.
While there are some hot spices in Morocco (thinking of you, harissa!), spicy food is not typical. Your meal will be well-seasoned and flavorful from the onions, garlic, cumin, coriander, and salt - plus whatever else the cook wants to add - but not spicy hot.
The vegetables are flexible, too, and change seasonally. Things like carrots, potatoes, and tomatoes are always available, though.
Next time you are in Morocco, go ahead and order a tajine without fear. You will have a delicious, filling meal. Remember what’s in it, though - your friends will ask!
The nomadic lifestyle is still a “thing” in the Moroccan desert. People live in low, simple tents all the time where there is plenty of space and food for their animals. The tent can be taken down, repositioned, and moved at will. All of the blankets are hand-woven, too.
Many of our tours include a visit to a campsite like this to meet people and enjoy traditional “Berber Whisky” - which is really sweetened mint tea - as is the custom. No matter how hot the weather, your tea will be served hot along with some tasty snacks.

It’s summer. It’s hot! Here’s a clip from Essaouira, the Atlantic Coast of Morocco to help you cool down and relax a bit.
Cats of Essaouira
Essaouira is on Morocco’s Atlantic coast. The waterfront and Medina areas were built by the Portuguese long ago. It’s a beautiful place to visit, especially if you like shopping, eating good food, and swimming on sandy public beaches.
There will be more pictures to follow, but it’s Caturday so this post is dedicated to the cute cats of Essaouira.
If you’re in Marrakech and you’d like to see them for yourself, we’d be happy to help. You can book a day tour from Marrakech which allows you plenty of time to tour the medina, admire the architecture, and enjoy the beach before returning that evening.
Looking at the Atlantic Ocean from inside the caves of Hercules. Where? In Morocco!
Respect, please! These donkeys and their person are working! Expect the uncommon in the High Atlas Mountains, and share the road patiently.
Coffee time! Can you think of a more beautiful place than Kalaat M’gouna, Morocco’s Rose Valley?
The Merzouga desert is gorgeous. Want to see for yourself?

1,000 years ago, this would have been a camel caravan waiting to take you across Morocco. 🐪🐪🐪🐪🐪
These days you get air conditioning, comfortable seats, and plenty of space for your luggage. Every tour guide in this line will arrange a camel ride for you, too, if that’s what you want to do. (I highly recommend that!)
Speaking of summer camp as we were yesterday makes me think of s’mores, roasting marshmallows, and this very important question:
I like mine pretty deep and caramélisés, but not quite charcoal briquettes. How about you?
Summer camp, Moroccan-style.
You won’t believe how quiet it is in the dunes of Erg Chebbi. Or how dark it gets. Or how many shooting stars you will see.
As they say, as long as you’re in Morocco, don’t be surprised.
You’ll find trees full of goats because the goats love to eat the argan nuts. You’ll find many other amazing things, too. No matter where in the country you go!
Is there something surprising in Morocco we could show you?

Story time!
A long time ago, in 1973, Robert Plant and the rest of Led Zeppelin were driving down a road just like this one in southern Morocco. The trip inspired him to write the lyrics to their popular song, Kashmir. The rest, as they say, is history! Music history.
What would a drive along this road inspire in YOU?
Of course, the only way you’ll know for sure is to come visit. Contact us soon to plan your trip! Great summer dates are still available.
Marjorelle Gardens is a nice place to go if you travel to Marrakech. It doesn’t look or feel like you are in the city at all!

Are the long days of summer and the warmer temperatures making you dream of a beachside vacation? It happens to a lot of us!
These pictures show the beautiful beach of Essaouira, Morocco. This ancient port city is right on the Atlantic Ocean. It is especially beautiful with a full moon rising above it!
And, because you cannot spend every second on the beach, there are shops and restaurants in the Medina, too. (Sorry, I don’t make the rules!)
What are you waiting for? Come for a visit! You can book a single day excursion from Marrakech, or call us to arrange something a little longer.

Morocco’s Atlantic coast has a beach for everyone. All you need to do is pick a city! #tanger #rabat #assilah #casablanca #agadir #essaouira
Friday is fish day in a lot of places. Here’s how they do it in Essaouira, Morocco - every day. First follow the hills to a stall with fresh fish. There are many. Choose as much as you want. Next, take your haul to a guy at the grill. He will cook it to perfection and magically (there is no other explanation) find you in the crowd with a perfectly-cooked plate. Someone else will be by with bread and drinks to round out your meal. Bismilah!
Descending the Atlas Mountains, we were greeted by this “dust devil.” It lasted a while after this video, and was bigger than the swirling fall leaves we’ve all tried to catch. Thankfully it crossed the road before we got there! Follow @MoroccoSuperTours for more content about travel in Morocco!

When you drive over the dunes, all you can see is the sand and the sky. You can take this adventure on an atv, on a camel, or in a 4-wheel drive vehicle. Which way would you prefer?
