On safari in… Hwange National Park, Zimbabwe. One of the large herd of elephants destinations. In the park there are solar- run pump stations to recreate the old migration paths for the elephants. The park is surrounded by human interference (hence the dried up water sources) so to keep the elephants and humans safe, the stations pull the water from deeper underground and the ekes follow the green grasses until depleted and time to move on.
After working with many clients on Backroads trips, I got to experience one myself! This education makes me all the more passionate about #adventuretravel! I am happy to help not only select the right level trip fur you, but also arrange pre and post extensions to round out your immersion in the destination. #enlightenedjourneystravel
I am back in the South Tyrol region of Italy, and in the Dolomites! I cannot recommend highly enough to combine these 2 adjacent regions for food, wine, culture, outdoor activities summer/fall/winter, and wellness.
Where you go on safari is as different as your various interests. #nileriver #Uganda
All my military spouse sisters with whom I have shared the journey- thanks for the love, laughs, cries and support!
What's So Special About the Wildebeest?
The Great Migration
The wildebeest are known as nyumbu in Tanzania. And here and in neighboring Kenya, the wildebeest are at their best. The animal from the group of the cow antelopes, which is more loyal to its habitat elsewhere, goes here every year on one of the largest animal migrations known to this world. In other words, wildebeest are constantly on the move between the Serengeti and the Maasai Mara.
And certainly the most famous Migration! Year after year, about 1.3 to 1.5 million wildebeests and several hundred thousand zebras and gazelles walk through the seemingly endless steppes, always in search of grazing grounds. With this endless loop, they give nature enough time to recover and provide food for the animals again in the coming year.
Safari: Great Migration
Ndutu is the place where the animals of the Great Migration are born. Every year they take a break and give birth to thousands of zebras and wildebeest calves. For a Safari, the best time to visit is from December to March.
JOIN ME on an Enlightened Journeys Travel- curated trip for an exclusive small group as we journey throughout northern Tanzania to spectacular safari locations- and end with a total immersion IN the Great Migration as it lingers in Ndutu for birthing. February 2024

AFRICAN SAFARI!
And right now, you can SAVE on such a dream trip.
A trip to Tanzania will fulfill all your wildlife-viewing desires with the added excitement of the wildebeest and zebra babies being born in February along the southern-most rotation spot of the Great Migration. Imagine seeing the hundreds of thousands of these animals as they gorge themselves on nutritious vegetation while their babies grow to join the journey cycle back to the north of the Serengeti. Naturally, there will be the predatory big cats as well to be seen. You could begin your trip for splendid elephant viewing and also visit either the Ngorongoro Crater or further on into Central Serengeti in your 8-9 night trip.
Idea: Add in a cultural visit or a wildlife rescue visit! You and your family will never forget it.

"HOW CAN I SAVE $$$ ON MY VACATION?"
Surprise! Everyone wants trip with the MOST VALUE added at a palatable price point. I have a whole list of cost-savers, but today I am sharing one good idea: double up on locations that make sense. Back-to-back trips. This means TWO VACATIONS in one- and a way of saving on international airfare (pay once rather than going twice).
A few popular combinations:
Amalfi Coast + Sicily
Spain + Portugal
Peru + Galapagos
The Cotswolds + Cornwall
Spain + Morocco
Ireland + Scotland
Croatia + Slovenia (or Hungary)
Italy + Switzerland
I could keep going!
In the spirit of cost savings, I have a special for those of you who like to explore and have a list of destinations. Fir a limited time, You can save $$$ when combining Perfect Pairs with some of my adventure partners on active and culturally immersive journeys (PS- perfect for a family summer vacation with tweens and teens, or for a group of adult friends!)
Ask me how to save money and add more value to your trips than you can by booking on your own.

And, HERE I GO! 2022 has started off at a rapid pace in the travel industry with travelers returning to a world that is getting to “normal…but better”. Better in wiser travel decisions by the Traveler and the places they visit. Better in love and consideration for the Traveler. And, better in the choices available.
When I am not traveling (yes, even during 2020 and 2021 where I was testing out health-safe practices in areas open to US tourists) to learn about hidden door offerings and special accommodations, I am making sure I am invited to, and participate in, the best trade shows that feature exactly what I offer. And, for the next 3 days I will be immersed in a 3-day marathon of meetings (and making friends) with small and unique boutique properties, off the beaten path destinations, small wine producers and local restaurants in the world’s most beautiful destinations- in essence, the world of small intimate luxury travel experiences for my clients.
Education and connections, that is the Enlightened Journeys Travel way!
