You arrive at your hotel and check in at the front desk. Typically when checking in, you give the front desk your credit card (for any charges to your room).

You go to your room and settle in. All is good.

The hotel receives a call and the caller asks for (as an example) room 620 - which happens to be your room.

The phone rings in your room. You answer and the person on the other end says the following: 'This is the front desk. When checking in, we came across a problem with your charge card information. Please re-read me your credit card number and verify the last 3 digits numbers at the reverse side of your charge card.'

Not thinking anything wrong, since the call seems to come from the front desk you oblige.
But actually, it is a scam by someone calling from outside the hotel.
They have asked for a random room number, then ask you for your credit card and address information.
They sound so professional, that you think you are talking to the front desk.

If you ever encounter this scenario on your travels, tell the caller that you will be down to the front desk to clear up any problems. Then, go to the front desk or call directly and ask if there was a problem.
If there was none, inform the manager of the hotel that someone tried to scam you of your credit card information, acting like a front desk employee.

ANYONE travelling should be aware of this one!

In 1915, Effie Hotchkiss bought a new Harley-Davidson and attached a sidecar to carry her mother, Avis, as a passenger. The pair then set out from Brooklyn to see the Panama Pacific International Exhibition in San Francisco. Avis had instilled confidence in her daughter, and when asked if she had fears about the arduous cross-country journey, Avis replied, “I do not fear breakdowns, for Effie, being a most careful driver, is a good mechanic and does her own repairing with her own tools.” The pair were the first women to cross America by motorbike, at a time when the roads, where they existed, were simply horrendous. After visiting the Pacific Coast, the pair rode back to Brooklyn, for an epic 9,000-mile journey.

It’s Mothering Sunday in Ireland today, at least that’s what we called it until we adopted the Americanism ‘Mother’s Day’, and here in Ireland we (mostly) call our mothers Mam, or Mammy. The fact is, Mothering Sunday has no connection whatsoever with the American festival of Mother’s Day (which I believe was designated the 2nd Sunday in May by Woodrow Wilson in 1914). It's actually a religious celebration and stems from the fact that it’s Laetare Sunday today, the 4th Sunday of Lent, half way through (and a day of relaxation from) normal Lenten rigours. Traditionally, weddings (otherwise banned during Lent) could be performed on this day and servants were released from service for the day to visit their mothers (hence 'Mothering Sunday'). So whether or not you celebrate it today in your part of the world, it’s undoubtedly Mothering Sunday so have a happy one! 🥰

Momma’s with babies tip: I would let my kids stay up an extra 15 minutes starting on Friday night, 30 minutes on Saturday night. Then on Sunday night after the clocks move forward, they go to bed 15 minutes early and the. Monday they should be caught up to the new time!

Katharine Wright Haskell was the younger sister of famed airplane inventors Wilbur and Orville Wright. Unlike her brothers, Katharine finished college, graduating with a degree from Oberlin in 1898. After graduation, she secured a teaching position at Steele High School in Dayton, where she taught Latin.
Katharine ran the Wright family’s household and managed the Wright Cycle Company while Orville and Wilbur worked to perfect their flying machine. After the brothers’ first successful flight in 1903, she left her teaching position to assist them.
She traveled with her brothers all over the world to showcase their airplane and regularly accompanied her brothers in the air—her flights helped bolster public confidence in the new invention.
After Wilbur died in 1912, she became an officer at the Wright Airplane Company. She continued to travel the world, actively fighting for women’s suffrage, and dedicated time and financial support to Oberlin College. Katharine died in 1929.
