A recent trip to the little township of Kin Kin made me pause for thought.

Kin Kin, an interesting little town, approximately a half hour's drive north of Noosa, where you'll find friendly locals, some astounding artwork, happy, busy, loud birds and bees at sunrise and sunset; and time for relaxation.

I'm betting the hair on your ears and tail is standing on end too!!

Wowser, the bowser prices took a huge jump. As a gypsy, fuel is one of the largest cost centres. I am on several FB pages where the nomads are discussing having to curtail their travels. 🤷‍♀️

It doesn't have to be like that!!! Please, I can help YOU. 💁‍♀️

PREPPING FOR THE ROAD TRIP 🚐🚐🚐🚐🚐🚐

Okay, so I've got a beautiful motorhome arriving, but what do I actually NEED to have with me? 🧐

I am something of a minimalist anyway, having sold my home in New Zealand when I returned to Australia in 2019. I had discarded all furniture and a large number of personal effects. However, I did find I still had about 25 boxes of 'stuff'!! Much to my son's horror I needed somewhere to store them, and his shed seemed like the perfect place. Thank you Jon Wise 💜

What a delight to find Little Mermaid - a little piece of paradise, right here on the Gold Coast!

Venturing in for breakfast, I immediately felt comfortable and welcome. The vibe was definitely casual relaxed beach, just what a Little Mermaid might enjoy! With a myriad of seating arrangements from 50's style booths, to a swinging love chair, to shabby chic tables and chairs or pandanus Butterfly chairs, there was a spot for every person and every mood.

Finding a spot in a 50's style booth - loved the padded seats - I set up for breakfast and then some business.

FIRST AID KIT

I'm a healthy person. I use the 80/20 rule. 80% of the time I eat well. 20% of the time I am a bit naughty. I have found that this has contributed to me maintaining good health all my life.

I was never a smoker, even right back when smoking was encouraged and cool. I couldn't stand the smell, taste or the price (even back then when they were $1 or $2 per pack!).

I have always been active. I played sports at school and always participated in athletics. I was a gym bunny for about 30 years, attending at least 3 times per week, often more. I ran, played netball and tennis, and kayaked. Not to mention being a mother running after two boys endlessly for several years!

While waiting for that pesky motorhome to be built, I am currently house and pet sitting in Toowoomba.

I have an adorable boy to care for, who has decided I am okay. This morning he jumped on the bed, and because I wasn’t paying much attention, gently reached out is paw and touched my cheek. Time to get up!

"While staying at Golden Beach on the Sunshine Coast I regularly walk Bo the Labrador, he loves sniffing everything, and Lizzy the Staffi, who is interested in getting everywhere as quickly as possible. We spent an invigorating hour hustling along the oceanfront ducking and diving between others' partaking of their morning rituals!

Near home I spied a block of shops. What once upon a time we called a "strip"shopping mall. This 'strip' had been revived! Cafe's bustled with people, cheerful chatter rang out. It was very alluring. So what does one do when there's cheerful chatter and the aromatic smell of coffee just down the road? One goes walkabout and investigates!"

WHERE THERE'S A WILL ...

About five years ago I said to a friend that my dream was 'to work flexible part time hours earning over $200,000 per annum, working online anywhere in the world; to write and to travel'. It seemed like a big ask.

In fact it seemed like a ginormous ask as my relationship broke down, the finances were stripped right back yet again, I lost a lucrative consultancy contract with about two weeks notice, I returned to live in NZ to live temporarily and couldn't get work .... and on and on it went.

It seemed like if there could be a challenge I would have it. Murphy's Law?
