Calling those who can work from anywhere in the US!
I’ve spent the last 3 years traveling full-time all over the US while working remotely. I just counted up all of the places we’ve stayed, and I’ve stayed a week or longer in over 40 places across the country!
There are a few of my favorite remote-work cities around the country. In my opinion, they all have great access to outdoor adventure, amazing food, cool breweries and coffee shops, and good vibes.
Here are just a few of my favorite places in each!
Duluth, MN: Easy access to the stunning Minnesota North Shore, fantastic food, lots of outdoor space within the city and some AMAZING breweries and coffee shops!

🍴@duluthgrill
🌿Enger Park, Ely’s Peak
Salt Lake City, UT: I cannot get over how close incredible mountain and alpine lake hikes are to SLC! Plus, the city has a surprisingly good coffee and brewery scene. It’s one of my fav cities!
☕@kingspeakcoffeeroasters
🍺@properbrewingco
🍴@caputosmarket
🌿Antelope Island, the Big and Little Cottonwood Canyons
Boise, ID: A fantastic city with beautiful murals, great food & drinks and lots of nature nearby! It’s a great starting point for hiking in the Sawtooth Mountains, chasing waterfalls near Twin Falls, and more!
☕@certifiedkitchenandbakery
🍺@barbarianbrewingidaho
🍦@ilovethestil
🌿Boise River Greenbelt, Camel’s Back Preserve
Ithaca, NY: This college town has SO many waterfalls nearby, including some that are right inside the city. Plus, I absolutely loved the farms, cideries and breweries in the surrounding Finger Lake area!
☕@collegetownbagels

🍴@levkitchenco
🌿Cascadilla Falls, Buttermilk Falls, Robert H. Treman
Portland, OR: This is one of my favorite cities! There is incredible food (and tons of veg options) and I love the vibes of the food truck parks. Plus, the nature nearby is top notch, I can’t believe how close Columbia
Is climbing Mt Kilimanjaro on your bucket list? There is a lot of info you should know before the climb!
Here are 3 things you should know before planning your trip (save this post!):
🗺️There are multiple routes you can pick from, be sure to research which one sounds the best for you. The most popular routes are the Lemosho Route and the Machame Route. But each of these routes can also be done in different amounts of time. Both routes are beautiful and have higher success rates than other, harder options. I did the 7-day Machame Route!
⛺You’ll need to go with a guide and most companies will do SO MUCH for you. They’ll set up your camp each night, cook you 3 hot meals a day and more. It feels like such a luxurious experience! Make sure to budget extra money for tip. I had a great experience with @shiri_adventures!
🥶The summit is typically done overnight. You’ll be hiking for hours in the dark and it gets extremely COLD up there. Be sure to pack a lot of warm layers, including a warm buff, hat and gloves. It’s rewarding to summit at sunrise, but it’s a rough climb and you never know what the weather might be.
Have you ever hiked a long distance overnight?

I spent 7 days climbing to the top of Mt Kilimanjaro - the tallest mountain in Africa and the tallest freestanding mountain in the world! 🌋
It’s hard to put into words how special this experience was. We had an entire team of guides, a chef and porters setting up our camp each night, cooking us 3 meals a day and ensuring we made it to the top safely. It was challenging at times, but it felt luxurious, because all we had to worry about was putting one foot in front of the other.
Here is an overview all about the experience:
🥾There are several different route of various lengths that you can take to reach the top. We took the 7-day Machame route and I think that was a great choice for us. The entire trek was 35.4 miles & 17,011 ft of elevation gain.
☁️The thing that makes this trek challenging is the high altitude. The peak is at 19,341 feet/ 5,895 feet and it’s common to experience altitude sickness. We came from sea level and got a prescription for Diamox, and I think that helped a ton. We had a few minor symptoms due to the high altitude but nothing major.
🚶In order to give you time to adjust to the altitude, the guides encourage you to go “pole pole” or slowly, during the entire uphill trek. If you’re a fast hiker, it may be a little frustrating at times. But we’re slow hikers anyway and loved that this helped us conserve our energy and enjoy our surroundings.
⛺There are many companies to choose from when you book your trek but we had an amazing experience with @shiri_adventures. The guides were incredible, the food was amazing and we couldn’t have asked for better!
🌳One of the coolest parts was seeing such a change of landscapes as we climbed up and back down. We hiked through the rainforest to the alpine zone and saw monkeys, glaciers, waterfalls, cloud inversions and so much more. It was so beautiful!

✨3 life lessons learned from hiking Mt Kilimanjaro ✨
🧑🤝🧑It takes a village and you can’t do it all on your own. In most cases on a trek to Mt Kilimanjaro, you’ll have a team of porters, a chef and incredible guides who are there to help you every step of the way.
🚶It’s not about how fast you go as long as you reach the top. In order to acclimate, you’re encouraged to hike “pole pole,” or very slowly, on your way up. This is a great reminder to enjoy your surroundings and that going slow is not just okay, but can be a great thing.
🐾Trim your toenails before a big downhill trek 😅 Let’s just say I forgot nail clippers and injured both of my big toes in ways I didn’t know were possible. Overall, I thought that the downhill was WAY harder than the uphill. I guess a better lesson here is that sometimes you’ll be challenged in ways you didn’t expect.
What life lessons have you learned while hiking?

Here are a few things to know before going on a safari! 🦒
🔭It’s pretty likely that at least some of the animals will get close for your vehicle, so don’t feel the need to invest in a fancy zoom lens. However, if you’re into photography, it’s great to have! We were glad we had one. One thing you should definitely bring is binoculars though!
👒It’s best to wear light, neutral colors and breathable fabrics. A hat is also great. It can get really hot. It’s also best to avoid wearing blue because it can attract the tsetse flies
🌬️It’s dusty out there, expect everything to get a little covered in dust!
🚗This can vary depending on your itinerary, but your days will probably include long periods of driving on bumpy roads
🥣 Most of the food will be provided by your lodges (buffet or semi-buffet breakfast and dinners, and packed lunches). I thought the food was great and it was easy to be accommodated as a vegetarian.
⏱️I thought that 5 days was a great amount of time! We went to 4 different parks and saw everything we wanted and more. But you could easily spend more or less time depending on your goals, schedule, etc
I had an incredible experience doing a private safari with @shiri_adventures and our guide @laurent_samila!
Have you been on a safari? Is it on your bucket list?

Throwback to one of the most beautiful sunsets I’ve ever seen 🌅
This is Cheyenne Bottoms Preserve, which is most known for bird watching. It’s a great place to see migrating birds in the spring and fall 🦆
I was staying in the small town of Great bend and drove out here for sunset. The sky glowed in pinks, oranges and a whole spectrum of colors. And we could see so many birds swimming and flying around.
Do you enjoy bird watching? It’s something I’d like to get more into!

Acadia National Park is so beautiful in the fall! 🍁
I had the privilege to spend 3 weeks in October near this park 2 years ago and really fell in love!
Here are some tips for visiting in the fall (save this post!):
🍁As with anywhere, please leave no trace! Pack out your trash, never feed or approach wildlife, follow posted signage and respect those around you.
🍁You may experience a lot of rain and fog in the fall. If you can, add an extra day or 2 in case there are days where you can’t see the views!
🍁Acadia gets CROWDED in the fall. Get to the popular trails super early if you can.
🍁A lot of businesses on Bar Harbor Island start to close mid-October. Be sure to check on this ahead of time.
🍁A reservation is required to drive to the top of Cadillac Mountain and they can be hard to get. Make sure you’re logged on exactly when they go on sale.
And here is an epic 3-day itinerary!

This trail was pure magic 🧚Fern Canyon is a 1-mile loop trail in Prairie Creek Redwoods State Park. Part of Jurassic Park was actually filmed here! 🦕It’s a neat trail, but there is a lot you need to know before visiting 👇🌿Please make sure to leave no trace - pack out all of your trash, plan ahead and respect those around you. 🎟️A reservation is required now until mid-September. If you don’t snag is ahead of time, more are made available at 9AM the day before (make sure you’re logged in and ready)💧You will get your feet wet! Wear waterproof shoes and embrace it. 🥾The hike itself is 1.1 miles if you do the loop that includes a forested section. It’s so beautiful! 🚗The road to get there is kind of rough. First you’ll drive Davison Road, which is windy and full of potholes. Right before the parking lot, you’ll have to cross a stream with your car. A higher clearance is recommended. If you don’t want to do the stream crossing, you can park at Gold Bluffs Beach and walk in a short distance (reservations still required)🥾There is an option to reach Fern Canyon on a 10.4 mile hike if you don’t get a reservation💵There is a parking fee of $12, or you can use your America the Beautiful Pass Have you explored Redwoods National and State Parks?#HikingAdventures #SheHikes #IdHikethat #HikingTips
Did you know that this is what Crater Lake National Park looks like in the spring? ❄️The rim road around the lake is typically only open between July - October. #NationalParks #USNationalParks #SouthernOregon #CraterLake #OutdoorAdventure
Combine Geocaching with travel on a Geotour! [ad] There are less than 100 GeoTours worldwide! The tours are meant to highlight the best places to visit in the area, and they include the most popular spots along with some hidden gems. It’s such a fun way to explore a new place! #Geocaching #Geocache #AdventureMore #OutdoorAdventure #VisitHburg #VisitMississippi #USTravel
Have you heard of an EarthCache? This is another way to have fun @Geocaching! [ad] It’s a type of a Geocache that helps enhance your visit to unique geological features!Instead of finding a container, you’ll submit answers to questions. They might be about how a rock formation was formed, the name of something that you’ll need to look for, and more. I recommend reading them ahead of time so that you’ll know what to look for. They are a fun challenge! There are fun EarthCaches located all over the world. There’s even one that is 11,000 meters below sea level! 🤯In addition to Ruby Falls, I also logged some EarthCaches at the nearby Cloudland Canyon State Park. Have you tried this? Check your Geocaching app for any EarthCaches nearby and let me know what you find! #Geocaching #Geocache #AdventureMore #VisitChatt #VisitTennessee #OutdoorAdventure
