This trail was pure magic 🧚Fern Canyon is a 1-mile loop trail in Prairie Creek Redwoods State Park. Part of Jurassic Park was actually filmed here! 🦕It’s a neat trail, but there is a lot you need to know before visiting 👇🌿Please make sure to leave no trace - pack out all of your trash, plan ahead and respect those around you. 🎟️A reservation is required now until mid-September. If you don’t snag is ahead of time, more are made available at 9AM the day before (make sure you’re logged in and ready)💧You will get your feet wet! Wear waterproof shoes and embrace it. 🥾The hike itself is 1.1 miles if you do the loop that includes a forested section. It’s so beautiful! 🚗The road to get there is kind of rough. First you’ll drive Davison Road, which is windy and full of potholes. Right before the parking lot, you’ll have to cross a stream with your car. A higher clearance is recommended. If you don’t want to do the stream crossing, you can park at Gold Bluffs Beach and walk in a short distance (reservations still required)🥾There is an option to reach Fern Canyon on a 10.4 mile hike if you don’t get a reservation💵There is a parking fee of $12, or you can use your America the Beautiful Pass Have you explored Redwoods National and State Parks?#HikingAdventures #SheHikes #IdHikethat #HikingTips

Combine Geocaching with travel on a Geotour! [ad] There are less than 100 GeoTours worldwide! The tours are meant to highlight the best places to visit in the area, and they include the most popular spots along with some hidden gems. It’s such a fun way to explore a new place! #Geocaching #Geocache #AdventureMore #OutdoorAdventure #VisitHburg #VisitMississippi #USTravel
Have you heard of an EarthCache? This is another way to have fun @Geocaching! [ad] It’s a type of a Geocache that helps enhance your visit to unique geological features!Instead of finding a container, you’ll submit answers to questions. They might be about how a rock formation was formed, the name of something that you’ll need to look for, and more. I recommend reading them ahead of time so that you’ll know what to look for. They are a fun challenge! There are fun EarthCaches located all over the world. There’s even one that is 11,000 meters below sea level! 🤯In addition to Ruby Falls, I also logged some EarthCaches at the nearby Cloudland Canyon State Park. Have you tried this? Check your Geocaching app for any EarthCaches nearby and let me know what you find! #Geocaching #Geocache #AdventureMore #VisitChatt #VisitTennessee #OutdoorAdventure

This might be the strangest form of transportation I’ve ever taken 😂The Monte Toboggan Sledges in Madeira are certainly unique! For 35 euros, you’ll be pushed down a very steep hill in a wicker basket by two gentlemen. It lasted about 7 minutes and there were some beautiful views! Most visitors take the cable car up and the toboggan ride down. However, the toboggan will only get you a portion of the way back down. At the bottom, you’ll either want to take a taxi, or you’ll need to walk 30-40 minutes to get back to the bottom. We walked and it was brutally steep TBH.Would you want to ride the hill in a wicker basket?#VisitMadeira #VisitPortugal #SheTravels
✨5 Fun Things To Do in New Orleans ✨(which I really think is one of the most unique cities in the US!) [ad] 1 - Eat beignets! I recommend avoiding the crowds at Cafe Du Monde and trying them at Cafe Beignet instead. The Royal Street location is beautiful. 2 - Take a tour to learn more about the history of the city! We took a cocktail bike tour that included a lot of history and taught us about several cocktails that originated in New Orleans. (And yes, it’s legal to ride a bike with an alcoholic beverage in NOLA 😂) 3 - Explore the city with @Geocaching! There are micro caches hidden throughout the city and it’s a fun challenge to discover them without anyone seeing you. There are also several virtual caches, including one at the WWII Museum! A virtual cache means that there is no physical cache to find, but you may have to take a photo or answer a question to log the cache. 4 - Visit the WWII Museum. This museum is giant and a must-visit for anyone who is interested in learning more about WWII. 5 - Explore the natural side of Louisiana nearby. I really enjoyed hiking in Jean Lafitte National Preserve. You can also book a swamp tour or a kayaking tour that will include transportation! If you want to try Geocaching for yourself, or you want to get back into it, I have a code for you! Use code LOSTWITHLYDIA and you’ll get a 7-day free trial on a Premium membership! You must select a monthly subscription to use the code. P.S. A premium membership would also make a fantastic gift 😉Check the link in my next post to try it out! What started your love for the outdoors? A little over 10 years ago, when Joe and I first started dating, he introduced me to Geocaching. I was immediately hooked and it became an activity that we loved to do together. If you’re not familiar, @geocaching is the world’s largest treasure hunt! 🗺️ There are millions of caches hidden all over the world, and you find them by downloading the app and following the coordinates. If you get stuck, there are hints to help you out. And when you find it, you can sign the log and keep track of your findings on the app. [A D] It’s a fantastic activity to do as a date, with your friends or with your family. It’s also a great way to explore a new city, or your own backyard 💚Download the app and give it a try! https://apps.apple.com/us/app/geocaching/id329541503 Have you been Geocaching before? #GetOutsideMore #AdventureSeekers #GetOutsideandPlay #ExploreMore
Surrounded by lush greenery and with hints of fall colors, I was so impressed with this magical waterfall! (and very little hiking is required!)📍Rifle Falls State Park Please be sure to leave no trace when you visit! Pack out all of your trash, stay on designated trails and respect those around you. Info: $10 self-pay fee (when I visited, at least) - make sure to bring cash and a pen Located about 40 minutes outside of Glenwood Springs. The waterfall is right next to the parking lot. However, I definitely recommend hiking the 1 mile loop trail - it will lead to other viewpoints of the waterfalls, caves and more! The trail is rated easy Have you visited this waterfall before? #VisitColorado #HikingAdventures #SheHikes #ColoradoAdventures
Have you ever stayed in a Hobbit House?! The Ohiopyle Hobbit House completely blew us away! I really enjoy unique lodging and while I haven’t seen Lord of the Rings, I was really swept up in the magical fantasy of this property. Every detail was considered and I would 100% recommend this stay to anyone! (hosted) Here is what you can expect from a stay here:👪 Sleeps 10 people, has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms🍄SO many thoughtful touches inside, including photos from around the area, mushroom nightlights, the Lord of the Rings DVDs, beautiful mugs, a spiral staircase, local beer and the fixings for s’mores! Plus, there was fast wifi 🪵A gorgeous outdoor space that includes a fire pit (with plenty of firewood), a waterfall, two balconies and a hot tub 💍And what I thought was the most unique part was the hiking trail. But it wasn’t just any hiking trail… It was a scavenger hunt quest to find the rings! We hiked through the forest and found clues along the way. Not only was the scavenger hunt really fun, but the mossy green boulders, mountain laurel shrubs and ferns were stunning too. 💵 You can book it on Airbnb and the current price is $375 a night! Not bad at all if you had a large group P.S. The same owners also have a treehouse that looks incredible!! Comment below if you would stay here! #ad #LaurelHighlands #GOLaurelHighlands #Ohiopyle #UniqueStay #HobbitHouse #UniqueAirbnb #VisitPennsylvania #VisitPA

Have you explored The Happy Valley Adventure Bureau? The tourism board is called the ‘Happy Valley ADVENTURE Bureau’ for good reason! 🥾While it felt like everyone else was in town for Penn State (it was move-in weekend, after all), I had the best time hiking, kayaking and enjoying nature all over the area! Here is a mini guide to the outdoor adventure in the area!Make sure to leave no trace and leave things better than you found them if you visit! The trails were very clean, let’s keep it that way 💚🥾Hike the Jackson Loop Trail, a 6.1 mile loop that offers incredible views along a ridge! This trail is a bit of a challenge and involves a bit of rock scrambling. It also has a lot of peaceful hiking through a forest. If you’re not able to do the whole hike, there is also a fantastic view from the parking area (Jo Hays Vista)🥾Hike to the top of Mt. Nittany! This is the most iconic trail in the area and leads to a viewpoint of the Beaver Stadium. It’s about a mile and a half if you only hike to the first overlook, but there are several more overlooks in other directions if you keep going!🥾Visit Black Moshannon State Forest and hike a portion of the Allegheny Front trail. The entire trail is a 43 mile backpacking loop, but I enjoyed a quick day hike to Ralph’s Majestic Vista and Ralph’s Pretty Good View. 🌿Enjoy the boardwalk trail in Black Moshannon State Park and rent a kayak or canoe to explore the lake! The water has a dark color because the bog vegetation colors the water with plant tannins. The lake had so many vibrant green lily pads and was a stunning place to explore.🌿Take a walk at the Millbrook Nature Preserve. The 62-acre preserve has a marsh ecosystem that is home to native plants and a variety of wildlife. 🌼Take a walk around Talleyrand Park. The park is on the banks of the Spring Creek, which is fed from Big Spring (a spring that Coca-Cola has used for their Dasani water!). As you walk around, you’ll enjoy beautiful tree

🐻 4 National Parks that are incredible for seeing Wildlife 🐊 Whenever you see wildlife, make sure to keep your distance! Never approach or feed any type of wild animal. If the animal changes its behavior, you’re too close.🌿Everglades National Park, FL: This an incredible park to observe alligators, birds, turtles and more! You’ll see alligators and birds just about everywhere, but I highly recommend walking the Anhinga Trail at dawn or dusk. ⛰️Denali National Park, AK: This remote and gigantic park is home to grizzly bears, moose, dall sheep and more. One great way to see the park is by taking a bus tour. The buses will take you further than you can go in your own car and will stop for wildlife sightings! As a bonus, stop at the Denali Sled Dog kennels and watch a demonstration! 🛥️Channel Islands National Park, CA: One of the best parts about visiting the Channel Islands is the boat ride over! If you’re lucky, you can see whales, dolphins and more along the way. When you reach Santa Cruz Island, keep an eye out for the adorable miniature foxes!🦬Theodore Roosevelt National Park, ND: This park is not only full of bison, but there is a population of beautiful, feral horses! You can see prairie dogs too. What is one of your most memorable wildlife encounters? Watching the alligator chomp on a fish in those first clips is definitely one for me! #NatureObsessed #GetOutside #NationalParkGeek #OutdoorAdventures #WildernessCulture
If St Cloud isn’t on your radar, it should be! (Sponsored) This central Minnesota city is full of outdoor adventure, fun events and great food & drink. It makes the perfect weekend getaway! Here are 5 fun outdoor adventure for when you visit:💚As with any outdoor adventure, make sure you leave no trace when you visit! Pack out your trash, respect those around you and leave things better than you found them.🦆Take a walk around Lake George. This peaceful city park is just a couple minutes from downtown and a wonderful place to walk, have a picnic or paddle around the lake.🛶Go kayaking down the Wild & Scenic section of the Mississippi River. CW Outfitting has several options for river trips. We enjoyed an 8 mile trip where they picked us up in their shuttle at the end. Plus, we saw a fox and several bald eagles during our trip!🥾Hike the Beaver Islands Trail. This trail includes views of islands of the Mississippi River! It has a paved area (great for biking) and an unpaved hiking trail - you can pick either one. It’s 4 miles RT if you hike the whole thing!🪨Visit the Quarry Park and Nature Preserve - you can swim in two of the quarries, plus hike all around several others! You can also bike, fish, scuba and rock climb here. It’s such a neat place! 🌹Take a walk around the Munsinger Clemens Gardens. You’ll find a rose garden, stunning fountains, a path along the Mississippi River and much more. I was so impressed by these gardens and they are free to visit!
Add this unique place to your Midwest Bucket list! This is Quarry Park and Nature Preserve in St Cloud, MN. It was an active quarry until the mid-1950’s, but today it’s a county park that offers all kinds of outdoor recreation! You can swim, hike, fish, bike, rock climb, scuba dive and more! I also love that part of the quarry park is a SNA (scientific natural area)! This area offers a higher level of protection to the plants and animals so there are more restrictions (hiking only, no pets allowed). Swimming allowed in two of the quarries - 2 and 11. It’s a relatively short and flat hike to reach either of them. Quarry 2 is slightly larger and has higher cliffs to jump off of. Note that there is no lifeguard on duty. Swim at your own risk and bring a life jacket for kids. Parking costs $10 in the summer and you’ll need an additional permit if you want to rock climb or SCUBA dive. If you visit, be sure to not leave trash behind, respect those around you and follow the posted rules. Sponsored by Visit St Cloud, opinions my own! What would you like to do on a visit here? Which one would you do first? I recommend going with a guide for Channel Islands, Apostle Islands and the Everglades. Paddling to Shoshone Falls requires a portage. #kayakingadventures #outdooradventures #sheadventures
Have you been to this beautiful place? WARNING: These cacti can “jump” and cling onto your skin or clothing as you walk past. If they cling onto you, it can be hard to get off due to their barbed spines. Please take care not to get too close. #visitcalifornia #joshuatree #usnationalparks #nationalparkgeek #nationalparksusa #findyourpark #usatravel #outdoortravel
Have you explored the Channel Islands? These islands off the coast of California are full of greenery, tiny foxes, fascinating sea caves and beautiful hiking trails. It quickly became one of my favorite national parks! SAVE this guide for a future trip. 🏝️ 5 Islands make up the national park. We visited the largest island, Santa Cruz and spent one night camping. 🛥️ You’ll need to reserve a ferry ride on @islandpackers to reach any of the islands. The ferry ride is a highlight in itself - we saw several humpback whales, dolphins and sea lions! 🛶 My favorite part was the Adventure Sea Cave tour with @islandkayaking! We went into countless sea caves and learned so much about the plants and animals on the islands from our guides. It’s pricey ($186 per adult) but worth it. They also have a shorter and cheaper option! 🥾The hiking trails on Santa Cruz were incredible too and we barely scratched the surface! We spent the day doing an 8 mile loop and our favorite view was definitely of Potato Harbor. To just reach Potato Harbor, it's 5 miles round trip. 🦊 Miniature foxes live on the islands and this is the ONLY place in the world where they’re found! They are ⅓ the size of foxes on the mainland (they’re adorable). They WILL try to get your food, so be sure to lock it up in one of the many metal bins provided by the national park service. 🏕️ If you want to camp on any of the islands, be sure to reserve in advance. On Santa Cruz, it’s about a half mile, flat walk to reach the campgrounds. The campsites are equipped with drinking water and pit toilets. ❗Whether you camp or take a day trip, make sure you pack out ALL trash (there are no trash cans here), do not feed the foxes, and stay on the trails to help preserve the plant life. Let’s keep this place beautiful! Have you explored this park yet? If not, is it on your list?#visitcalifornia #channelislands #visitVentura #nationalparksusa #californiatrip #outdooradventure Harbors and Have
