Here we go!

Alright everyone new uni year means new 5 a side league. Last year was brilliant and this year will be same no doubt. The league will now be moving over to Instagram for the foreseeable future with Ben (and Co) taking over the league running from myself, Ferdy and Flynn.

Alright everyone!

Not a decision we have taken lightly but the three of us have decided to end the league for this year! It’s been great especially last term but sorting fixtures with covid against us has just been too much for us to do last minute alongside our normal lives and uni work. We can’t do what we planned with league with only a few more weeks of the term before Easter so we have made the tough decision to end now rather than prolong the inevitable.

Cheers to everyone involved we have had a blast watching teams play some great football at hes east and I’m sure everyone who will be here next year the league can continue, hopefully without so many issues.

CLUB STATEMENT:

Hi Everyone,

Sadly due to all the late cancellations and league drop outs we are going to have to postpone today’s fixtures. Neither Myself, Flynn nor Ferdy have taken this decision lightly and we know how much some of the teams are desperate to keep the league games going. However, the late notices we are getting for the fixtures makes our job, on top of a mountain of uni work, so much harder to organise hours before kickoff.

We really want to see at least the league continued but we cannot organise this league or pay to cover the pitch rentals with all the teams slowly dropping out of the fixtures each week. We apologise if anyone had to change plans for tonight so they could field a team and a huge shout out to the teams which are available each week as covid has made this way harder than in previous years.

We will discuss what’s going to happen with the league as term is getting beyond half way and we still have a lot of games to play. Keep your eyes pealed on the group chat and page for updates.

Hi all, as already mentioned in the captains chats all the games tomorrow have been cancelled with an issue with pitch bookings. Apologies for this and hopefully a plan can be sorted for next week.

Hi Everyone,

I hope you’ve all had a great Christmas and a Happy New Year! Now we have approached over half way through the league we can now share the current league standings as well as our plans for after the final games. There will be another 5 league games to play starting from the Friday, 21st of January (first week of term) therefore you should have ample time to burn off all the Christmas beer and mince pies before then.

After the 11th game the league shall be taken from domestic success where you can prove your skills on the European stage. Picture 2 shows the corresponding knockout tournaments each team will qualify into “as of this moment” but there is still plenty more points to be won.

The exact knockout structure will be revealed later on in this term and stay posted for the new fixtures over the weekend.

The Week 5 fixtures allowed for some huge table battles and close and intense games! Charlie Wag have bided their time and now consolidate top of League 1 after a thrilling game againsts previous leaders YardO. JDL claw back up to that illusive 4th champions league spot and new boys Jerry & Co are making waves down in mid table!

League 2 sees BDAS stand resolute at the top, with Smokah now joining the other teams in a champions league spot! With 3 teams on 6 points I expect this league to change round over the coming game weeks!

However, I’m sad to announce that no games are happening this week as neither Flynn, Ferdy or myself are able to attend this Friday. I know we have already seen too many international breaks this year so I hope you take the week off to rest, ready for the final game week of this term on the 3rd of December!

Captains, please let me know if you can’t make this date ASAP!

End of Week 4 promised to bring action and it certainly delivered. YardO cement themselves at the top of League 1 and Ajax Trees Down make a heroic climb up the league! League 2 shows an exciting reshuffle as BDAS dethrone The Ninja Turtles taking top spot of League 2 by +1 goal difference.

Week 5 promises some great football - League 1’s Unstoppable Charlie Wag take on the Immovable YardO for top spot. Stay tuned for game times and pitches coming out in the next day or so!!

End of Game week 3 provided a sizeable reshuffle of the league. Smokah FC climb the table from 8th to 4th after an impressive win! YardO maintain superiority in league 1 but with Charlie Wag and DA Boys close behind. League 2 is giving us a top spot contest with The Ninja Turtles and BDAS separated by only one goal.

Game Week 4 has the potential for some quality 5 a side!

Week 1 displayed some tidy football across all the teams. YardO move to the top of league 1 with an impressive performance and The Ninja Turtles slot 17 past their opponents to go top of League 2!

Alright everyone, the baton has once again been passed over in running the infamous 5 a side league from Cam and Will to myself, Ferdy and Flynn. Apologies if you have already graduated and are getting updates. People can now sign up for the league that will commence on the 22nd and 23rd of October and run throughout first and second term. It will be £15 per team per week to play and the games will last 26 mins with a 4 min half time. We will sort some prizes for the league winners e.g. Drinks, SU vouchers and all that good stuff. If you are keen and think you are straight out of FIFA Street 2012 then drop either me Alex Holley ([email protected]), Ferdy Cleare ([email protected]) or Flynn Cray ([email protected]) a message. Deadline to sign up will be Wednesday 20th of October. Looking forward to seeing each of you dust off the covid cobwebs and bring the flavour to the York Sport Village.
