Team River Rangers and Forestry Monitors embarked on a cleaning and Awareness Campaign during the month of March at the Dzindi River bridges and created hotspots maps and pick up points which are made from the natural materials elevated in order not to be Mendelised.

This is extremely helpful for waste such as nappies that are to be kept out of reach until collection by the Local Municipalities.

Muvhango Chuene Francinah (78 years) resides at Duthuni Tshivhambe Ha-Mushavhanamadi. In December 2024 the Duthuni&Tshisahulu (YG) group visited her during our door to door campaign and educated her on RRR (Reduce, Re-use & Recycle). On Monday 4th March 2024 as the group was passing by, Mrs Muvhango called the group and showed us the mats she’s made with plastics along with the others she had been knitting.
She said our campaign motivated her to continue with the knitting. When the pictures were sent to the chairperson of Greater Mapungubwe Ivory Tourism Hub Mr Ravele, he advised us to interview her and so we did successfully. Watch out for the interview 😁

The Thohoyandou team (under GMIRTH and DFFE) went to Lukunde primary school in Thohoyandou Block F to educate learners about Climate change and waste management. To help reduce waste and pollution around the school yard, refuse bags were handed to the aunties who sells at the school.

They were grateful and mentioned that they will help in collecting all the waste and sort waste in the refuse bags we gave them. They promised to keep school yard clean and also encourage learners to dispose waste in the plastic after use. We know that the responsibility of our nation lies with all of us; we have to work together to keep our schools, environment and nation as a whole clean. So we are the grateful ones for our aunties and children who are willing to make a change ✨

A per the YOUTH GRADUATE POGRAM in collaboration with the department of Forestry, Fisheries & Environment (DFFE), team Mapate visited Mapate primary school on Monday March 4th 2024 for the plantation of trees.

The school had 8 different trees that needed to be planted. Those trees will help the learners to remember that afforestation is required more than deforestation.

Changing the nation one school and One learner at a time.
