It's hard to believe, but 3 weeks from today I'll be on the ground in Europe attending one of the most prestigious events in luxury travel: International Luxury Travel Market (ILTM) Cannes.

This show is where the leading names in the industry come together to create visionary travel experiences, form powerful partnerships, and shape the future of luxury travel. This is 'the event' for unparalleled networking opportunities and is a chance to bring even more refined and purposeful journeys to life for my clients.

This will be my final travel destination of 2024, a year of epic adventures and experiences. Each journey has been an investment to better serve my clients and set myself apart as a trusted authority in this industry.

We're racing Typhoon Kong-rey to Shanghai. If you haven't seen the news, this typhoon is presently pummeling Taiwan and is the largest storm by size to hit Taiwan in almost 30 years. Authorities in Shanghai say this storm might bring the worst rain Shanghai has seen since 1981; we're scheduled to arrive at 3am local time (I believe).

The sea has been angry today but the Viking team is incredible. Honestly, I'm not sure I'd feel as safe and secure with any other supplier; the officers and crew onboard are largely Chinese and they *know* this stuff.

I'll drop links to news articles in the comments and I'm sharing a stock photo of Shanghai since it's unlikely we'll see her in all her glory (and to appease the FB algo).

When you explore off the beaten path China, you encounter mainlander Chinese visitors who are so excited to see a Westerner in real life that they want their photo with you. You realize this might be the best moment of genuine connection you'll have in your life and you gleefully oblige...and then you exchange photos on WeChat (and you figure this all out despite not speaking a word of each other's language).
