Every year from the end of October to medio January, the largest gathering of killer whales in the world take place in Tromso region, far north of Norway, due to enormous amounts of herring.

Sometimes as many as 50-60 orcas and humpback whales can be observed at the same time. We follow the orcas closely to watch them play and feed. When possible, we enter the water and swim with them. To be with these magnificent animals in their own habitat is an experience for life.

Last weekend was the yearly South African Photographer of the Year Competition.

Kristof Goovaerts took the award back home to Belgium after his Sardin Run journey.
He won the professional underwater category within the South African wildlife photographer of the year! The picture "Raggie in the cave", is an awesome shot taken at Aliwal Shoal with Blue Ocean Dive Resort - Aliwal Shoal . Kristof mixed up some shark photography with techniques from mine and cave diving.
The dive site "Cathedral" is a dive that should be on everyone's bucketlist!

Following the success of the solar energy project in Shagra Village , Red Sea Diving Safari have now been able to install solar energy in Marsa Nakari Village and Wadi Lahami Village . There will therefore be an environmental fee, payable on site, of €5 per person per stay in Marsa Nakari and Wadi Lahami for all new bookings from today.
This fee helps to support the solar energy project and our other eco efforts.
