At The Legacy Untold, we design tailor-made journeys for intrepid global nomads integrating top luxury, deep cultural immersions, thrilling adventures, and meaningful impact experiences - creating journeys that support environmental and social causes worldwide. From restoring coral reefs to raising funds for solar-powered lighting in underserved communities, we’re redefining travel as a force for global connection and positive change.

In partnership with One&Only Resorts, The Legacy Untold recently raised funds to provide solar light to over 2,000 families living without electricity. We are currently working in partnership with the incredible South-Africa based organization Uthando to carry out this beautiful initiative.

Giving the gift of solar light allows adults to work after sunset, without burning fires inside their huts for light, dramatically reducing respiratory illnesses while increasing productivity and the ability to earn money. These lights enable children to do their homework in the evening after chores are done, allowing them to build a better future. When women carry portable lights while walking in the evening, there is also a dramatic reduction in gender-based violence.

Northern Kenya is where experiential luxury and adventure are turned up a notch, and where you’ll find some of Kenya’s most unique lodges and experiences.

Explore the hills and plateaus of the stunning terrain from the horseback or an exhilarating open sided helicopter ride. Sleep in a luxury treehouse or a giant bird’s nest built intentionally for connecting with nature.

Some of our favorite properties are owned by families who have close ties to local tribal communities. Immersions in the region with the Samburu tribe are some of the most authentic.

Mark writes, “As a travel advisor who specializes in high-end trips in faraway places, I am frequently asked about the perfect, 12-day trip to South Africa – one filled with top-notch safaris, the best wine and food, and unforgettable experiences. While every trip we plan is tailored to individual tastes, here is one itinerary I created for the ultimate in luxury and service.”

Cape Town, with its dramatic coastline and vibrant nightlife, is one of the world’s most captivating cities. Stay at The Silo for architectural elegance or the One&Only for refined service and Nobu’s on-property culinary excellence (the only one in Africa!). In a single day, paraglide over Signal Hill, swim with wild penguins, and savor a world-class dinner. Hike Table Mountain or admire it from the luxury of your private suite. Explore the city’s rich culture with expert local guides on an art walk or street food tour, then venture to the nearby Cape Winelands or the relaxed charm of Hermanus. Finish your journey with a Big Five safari in Sabi Sands.

When we speak to our travelers after they return from a trip to South Africa, we find they almost always say they wish they could have spent more time. Let us show you why…

Six Senses Ninh Van Bay beach resort sits within a dramatic cove, looking out onto the East Vietnam Sea. Only accessible via water, its unique location gives guests the feeling of being completely isolated on a remote island.

The property’s private pool villas and overwater bungalows are spacious and comfortable, each complete with either a garden terrace or a wood-lined sundeck. Whether on the beach, suspended over the water, between the rocks, or perched on the mountainside, each elegant residence offers absolute seclusion (the only person who will find you is your dedicated Guest Experience Maker, on call 24 hours a day).

Since 2020, Six Senses has collaborated with the NGO Green Viet, where biologists have identified 109 individuals of the endangered black-shanked douc langur monkey residing around the resort. This number grew to 170 in 2023 and is still rising. The staff loves when guests ask about this initiative, so please feel free to do so!

The resort employs a full-time resident biologist from Green Viet, Ms. Quynh, who works closely with Six Senses to introduce exciting wildlife and conservation experiences for guests, including guided hiking trips to learn about forest life and how the resort is helping to protect the langurs.

At the end of an adventurous, conservation-filled day, indulge in the Six Senses Spa, a sanctuary in the hilltops where guests can fully relax thanks to traditional Vietnamese therapies and local body treatments, all while enjoying the sound of natural streams flowing by.

Since opening in 2003, Museum Hotel Cappadocia—the world’s first museum-concept hotel—has stood as a living tribute to Türkiye’s rich history, displaying hundreds of precious artifacts from the Hittite, Roman, Seljuk, and Ottoman eras.

Turks, Rhums (Orthodox Turks), and Armenians lived here together for hundreds of years, influencing each other in areas such as architecture and lifestyle, as well as gastronomy. Whether you’re looking to discover more about Turkish cuisine or are already an experienced foodie, dining at Museum Hotel offers a deep dive into a rich blend of dishes that reflect the region’s shared past.

Every August 16th, the Gozan Okuribi ceremony lights up Kyoto’s summer night sky.

At dusk, five giant bonfires are ignited on the mountains surrounding the city to symbolically guide spirits to and from their ancestral homes. This tradition can be traced back to ancient Japanese customs during the Heian period (794-1185), when Kyoto was the country’s capital.

Over time, the Gozan Okuribi has become a prominent feature of Kyoto’s cultural heritage, highlighting the city’s historical role as a center of both political and religious life in Japan. The festival has been embraced as a key part of Japanese identity and is celebrated with great enthusiasm by both locals and visitors.

At Aman Kyoto, guests are invited to write their own wishes on gomagi—wooden offering sticks—which are collected and offered to the Okuribi Preservation Society. The gomagi will then join the fires at nearby Hidaridaimonji.

The world’s largest inactive volcanic caldera formed when a volcano exploded and collapsed almost three million years ago. Now at 12 miles wide and with walls that rise 2,000 feet, the Ngorongoro Crater is home to more than 25,000 animals and is one of the most biodiverse places on earth. It’s a haven for so much wildlife, including 65 endangered black rhino, seven prides of lion, tons of zebra and wildebeest, ostrich, warthogs, jackals, leopard and giraffe in its open grasslands, dense forests, and lakes full of pink flamingos.

Despite vehicle density – as its treasures make the Crater one of the most well-loved places to visit in Africa – this is one of the best experiences to be had on the continent.

And should your desire include some of the ultimate in special touches, we can pull some strings and arrange for an off-road permit to track black rhino and a lavish private bbq lunch on the floor of the crater.

Towering over the Sahara Desert, the Pyramids of Giza have stood the test of time and remain one of the most iconic and well-preserved relics from Egypt’s Old Kingdom era.

Skilfully built to endure for eternity, these awe-inspiring monuments were constructed over 4,000 years ago as the final resting places of the pharaohs, who were believed to become gods in the afterlife.

To prepare for their divine journey, each ruler built a massive pyramid tomb, filled with everything they would need to guide and sustain them—from intricately decorated burial chambers to precious artifacts and food supplies.

These imposing structures continue to fascinate scholars and explorers alike, as they hold many secrets still waiting to be uncovered. The Scan Pyramids project, run by an international team of archaeologists, has been using modern technology to delve inside the pyramids since 2015. Advances in high-energy particle physics have allowed them to use cosmic rays to uncover various hidden spaces that had been concealed for over four millennia—some of which are larger than the famous Grand Gallery, measuring around 98 feet long and 26 feet high.

Thanks to these discoveries, visitors can walk in the footsteps of ancient royalty, exploring the interior of the pyramids and witnessing first-hand the hidden wonders that continue to captivate the world.

Vietnam repeatedly draws curious global nomads to its cities and shores, with its dramatic cliffside views of the Annamese mountains, verdant waterways of the Mekong Delta, and the shimmering serenity of the turquoise waters of Halong Bay.

Tucked away in the winding streets of its Old Quarter, Vietnam’s capital city of Hanoi offers a buzzing nightlife scene and street food culture to rival any other. To the East of Hanoi lies Halong Bay, which consists of more than 2,000 limestone isles rising up from crystal clear waters in this tropical paradise lost in time. Charter a private yacht to set sail on your own personal adventure while enjoying deckside tai chi sessions at sunrise and gourmet dinners at sunset.

Vietnam’s enchantment lies not with one single element, but is rather a composite sketch of its natural splendor, fascinating history, and myriad cultural traditions that meld into something that can only be described as a sense of wonderment for even the most seasoned globetrotter. Its allure may seem mysterious, but what’s certain is that the only way to know is to experience it for yourself.

While zebras may not hold the title of the fastest mammal in Africa, they possess remarkable endurance, capable of traveling distances up to 50 miles a day in their relentless search for food and water. They are also powerful kickboxers, with a kick that can deliver up to 3,300 pounds of force—strong enough to break a lion’s jaw and give them the edge they need to live another day.

Their strength and stamina are put to the ultimate test during the Great Migration. Each year, around 250,000 zebras follow the rains across the Serengeti and over the mighty Mara River into Kenya’s Masai Mara in their eternal quest for sustenance.

This is the planet’s maddest dash—a jaw-dropping spectacle best experienced with world-class guides. We’ll give you a front-row seat, whether in a safari vehicle, from the privacy of your own tent at a strategically situated luxury mobile camp, from breathtaking heights in a hot air balloon, or for the truly adventurous, on foot with an expert.
