Breathtaking view of Taormina
One of my favorite spots in Taormina is Santuario della Madonna della Rocca "Mary of the rock", a church from XII century built on top of a hill with a breathtaking view. ⛪🌅
The church was made excavating a cave, according to the legend of a young shepard that found refuge in it during a storm with his flock. While inside the cave, this young shepard saw a lady holding a baby in her arms so he got scared and ran away. He went back with his parents and, in a crack on the walls they found a painting of the Virgin Mary with Baby Jesus. 🎨🖼️👶🏻
HOW TO GET THERE:
(from Piazza IX Aprile)
➡️ take any alley going up to via Circonvallazione
➡️ find Salita Castello, the beginning of the staircase
➡️ Go up to the Via Crucis, statues of the crucifix stations of the passion of Christ
➡️ Once on top, enjoy!
➡️ If you wish you can continue to "Casteltaormina" ruins of a Saracen castle of XI century that used to be acropolis during the Greek times 🏰🏛️
🕑 20~30 minutes going up
🍎🥛bring fresh water and maybe a snack, in high season there is a small business on top selling drinks

Monreale and the Golden Valley
Good morning from a sunny Monreale, an amazing hilltop town known for its incredible Cathedral from the 12th century completely covered in byzantine mosaics.⛪🌄
From here you can see the Golden Valley around Palermo, called this way because it used to be full of lemon orchards that would shine when hit by the sun rays 🌞🍋

Granita in Taormina
Food is a serious thing. 🍝
Italians don't play around with their food, Sicilians even more.
So it has to be a certain quality or it's not worth eating it 😉
So my favorite granita is from Bam Bar in Taormina, where everyday they serve only granita made with fresh fruits 🍒🍓🍋🍇
What's your favorite granita flavor?
Stunning island of Ortigia

Zucchini leaves pasta
My dad used to cook this pasta dish for me and so this is my favorite! 🍝
Did you know that zucchini leaves are edible?
In case you wanna try it out here's my wife's recipe
Pasta chi tadd'i cucuzza
(zucchini leaves pasta)
Take the zucchini leaves, wash them with water and cut them in stripes. Boil them in a pot full of water. 🥒🥬
Sauté garlic, olive oil and spicy pepper in a fry pan. Add some chopped tomatoes and a sliced potato, then mix it with the zucchini leaves and put the pasta (raw) in it and then add a cup of boiling zucchini water.🌶️🍲
Add salt. When it gets dry add another cup or more cups until the pasta is ready. Put some grated Parmigiano cheese on top and enjoy! 🧀
Lovely Castelbuono
Castelbuono is a precious gem on the Madonie mountains 🏞️🏰
