Happy international whale day! 🐋✨
Every expedition is different, but we are always grateful to share a moment with these gorgeous animals. Plus, did you know whales play a key role in tackling climate crisis? A
single whale captures up to 33 tons of CO2 during their lives, taking that carbon out of the atmosphere for centuries when they die.
That's another reason to love whales even more! 🩵

Weekend vibes, turtle vibes 🏝️
Thanks to the constant conservation efforts of the local community, every time is more common to spot wild sea turtles in Los Cabos area, and every year the number of turtle nests increases too.
In 2022 more than 4000 turtle nest were colected and safely relocated into the turtle camps, meaning than over 16,000 baby turtles were released last season just in Los Cabos, yay!!! 🥳
These are great news for the turtles, showing an amazing recovery in their population. But there is still work to do, cause some species are still strugling to due to habitat loss and poachers.
2023 turtle season is just starting in Baja and with every excursion we do, we donate 10% to local conservation NGO's that work hard to protect nature, including the turtle camps in San Jose del Cabo. 🐢

A quick shot of the first @oceansweekmx activation in Baja, together with @ligomx and @dip.expeditions.
We had the opportunity to share a swim with a giant school of devil rays (Mobula munkiana) during their yearly agregation in the Sea of Cortes. They migrate between the tropic lines as part of their reproductive and feeding patterns, and can gather in groups of over a hundred thousands individuals! 🤯
But we still have more questions than answers about this gorgeous animals, making their protection and study a priority in order to create a successful conservation plan.
In the meantime, we can use ecotourism as a powerfull tool to spread awareness and empower the local comunities with new and sustainable alternatives of income, preserving key ecological spots for marine life.
We are very thankful with @ligomx and @dip.expeditions for inviting us to guide this wonderful adventure. Working together for the ocean we can create a bigger wave. 🌊✨

🔊 Sound on for dolphins chatting!!!
In all over the animal kingdom, communication plays a key role when it comes to survival. It is also crucial for mantaining interactions between individuals of the same or even among different species.
Specifically when speaking about dolphins, their communication is based on two different sounds: whistles and clicks.
Clicks are used to inspect they surroundings through echolocation. By clicking, they create sound waves that will bounce back to them when hitting animals or objects. This adaptation allows them to build a very accurate mental picture of their surrondings, even when visibility is low. And helps them measure distances as well.
Whistles would be more like their language, meaning these are the sounds they create to communicate between dolphins.
It is also thought that every single dolphin have an unique whistling sound called "signature whistle".
Now you know.
Underwater acoustic is complex to study, mainly due to the speed of sound being two times faster when traveling in water, and for us, land mammals, is very difficult to differentiate it because our inner ears aren't fast enough for that. But thanks to technology we can slow down recordings to hear with more clarity what they have to say.
Tell us, if you where a dolphin which would be your signature whistle? Ours would be "eeeeeiiiieeweeiiii" 🐬😂
