Puaʻena
1. Point, stone, Haleʻiwa, Oʻahu. Puaʻena was a legendary woman who came to Hawaiʻi with Pele, the goddess of the volcano. A stone on a small beach in the lee of the point named for her was famous for its curative powers, and Hawaiians came from all parts of Oʻahu to visit it. It was also known as the Lady Puaʻena Stone. Puaʻena was also the name of a beach home at the point that belonged to William Holt. He built it in the late 1800s and used it through the 1930s. 2. Surf site, Haleʻiwa, Oʻahu.
