Bikthano city, also well known as Panhtwa city, is located 12 miles west of Taungdwingyi township, Magway region. In the era of the Pyu city-states, it was a city of considerable significance, possibly a local ccapital replacing Sri Ksetra. Beikthano, Hanlin, Sri Ksetra, the ancient cities of the Pyu Kingdom were built on the irritated fields of the dry zone of the Irrawaddy river. They were inscribed by UNESCO on its List of World Heritage Sites in Southeast Asia in May 2014 for their archaeological heritage traced back more than 1,000 years to between 200 BC and 900 AD. The city is traditionally believed to have been founded some 2,400 years ago by Princess Pan Htwa descened from a still legendary dynasty of Tagaung in Upper Myanmar. In the citiy, there are new Beikthano city and old Beikthano city. In old Beikthano city, the archaeological and historical sites exist and at the Beikthano historical museum you can explore most of the excavated handicrafts, pots and jewels from archaeological sites. Moreover, Shwe Lat Ya pagoda, Ingyi lake and other interesting places exist at the outside of the museum.

Lifestyle of Naga People from Burma

The Naga People live in the Sumara Mountains of the Chin State and the hilly area of the northern Burma. The body structure of the Naga is strong and tall. The blue shirt worn by Naga women is similar to that of the Mon people. Girls with round faces don't have long hair when they are single. It is almost shaded. Long hair is the only way to get after married. Men wear leg and waist rings.Beads and snail's shells are worn by both men and woman. In the Nagas' houses, there is a long tent with a thatched roof and a sliding door In the middle of the tent, the ground was famed and three or four stoves were built. The Naga people built tombs in the village and on the side of the village road. The stones on the tombs show the beheading of the man while he was still alive, the small stones indicate the numbers of his lovers. In some people, as many as sixty small stones can be found.
Harvest Festival, Naga New Year Festival celebrations are held annually. The Naga New Year festival celebrated by Naga people on the 15 January every year is a traditional festival for the clan. Naga traditional items were sold in Khamti, it has been opened as a museum on the airport road in Zee Phyu Kone.

About Dawei in Myanmar

Dawei
Dawei is the capital of Thanintharyi Region and also is the city of south-eastern Myanmar. It has many charming pagodas and beautiful, amazing beaches. Dawei is a port at the head of the Dawei river from the Adman sea. From the 11th to 13th centuries, Dawei was part of the Pagan Empire. From 13th to 16th century, it was a part of the Sukothai Kingdom and its successor the Siam. After independence in 1948, the city became part of the Tenasserim Division , which also included today’s Mon State. In 1989, The city’s English name was changed feom Tavoy to Dawei and Tenasserim became Thanintharyi. It is a costal covering an area of over 4184 sq km.

Dawei Shin 9 Shin

Dawei which are very powerful, traditional and historical pagodas. Despite having iesser historical and archaeological evidence, nine pagodas under titles of Shin. Shin 9 Shin pagodas can be divided into three categories; mountain pagoda, forest pagodas and city pagodas. The three mountain pagodas are Shin Sandaw pagoda, Shin Hmyaw Taung Pagoda and Shin Taunt Pon pagoda. The three forest pagodas are Shin Datwe pagoda, Shin Zalun pagoda and Shin Tauk Htein pagoda. Then, the last three city pagodas are Shin Pin Khayu pagoda, Shin Mokhtee pagoda and Sin Oak Aww pagoda.

Beautiful Beaches
Being a costal region, Dawe is home to amazing beautiful beaches such as Maungmakan Beach, Myawyit Beach, Phoe Phoe Kyauk Beach, Myin Khwar Aww beach which are popular tourist attractions. Tourist can engage in activities such as snorkeling, fishing and boat trip.

Popular Places
Shin Sandaw pagoda Shin Sandaw pagoda located at the top of the hill in the Kaleinaung Sub township is one of Dawei’s historic Shin 9 Shin pagodas. The hill is 47 miles north of Dawei. Three pieces of relic hair of Kakusanda, Konagamana and Gotama who had enlightened in Buddha World were enshrined in the rocky reliquary which is 30 by 30 elbows each in length and width and 40 elbows in depth. The Buddha Pujaniya festival of the pagoda holds on the full moon day of Tabaung yearly.

Shin Hmyaw Taung pagoda Shin Hmyaw is a hilly pagoda in Launglon township, located in Kyethlut Village, 52 miles from Dawei. According to the history of pagoda, Shin Hmyaw Taung pagoda was built on the full moon day of Tabaung and Kings Alaungsithu and Narapatisithu performed meritorious deeps there. The historical books of the pagoda mentioned six wonderful points of Shin Hmyaw Taung pagoda.

Shin Taunt Pon pagoda The pagoda was built on more than 2,000 ft high hill, 18 mile from Dawei, in Thayetchaung township. Taunt Pon means quiver or a pile quivers. Hunter Maung Nwar abandoned his hunting livelihood and set fire to hunting equipment on the hill of Shin Taunt Pon pagoda. Then, he himself was initiated into hermit with the title of Shin Govinda who built Shin Taunt Pon pagoda.

Shin Datwe pagoda Shin Datwe pagoda built by Shin Zan is located in Maungmeishaung Village, seven miles from Dawei-Yebyu motor road. As local people said as Shin Zan threw his relic into the hair with a vow to build a pagoda, the relic was flying above the place of current pagoda. So, it was well-known as Shin Datwe Pagoda.

Shin Zalun pagoda Shin Zalun pagoda is located in old Thagara city in Launglon township and was built by a woman.

Shin Tauk Htein pagoda `Although some said Shin Tauk Htein pagoda located in KAmyawkin Village of Launglon township in Dawei District was one of nine Shin pagodas, the original Shin Tauk Htein pagoda was the Buddha image kept in the ordination hall, east of the pagoda. People called Shin Tauk Htein pagoda as a relic pagoda where the gala rice offering ceremony takes places on every full moon day of Thatingyut.

Shin Pin Khayu pagoda It was assumed that the pagoda located on Arzani Road in South Kayinpyin Ward of Dawei was built 300 years ago. A fire broke out almost thw whole South Kayinpyin Ward of Dawei on 26 March 1996 but the pagoda remained safely. Hence, the pagoda became more famous.

Shin Mokhtee pagoda It was assumed that Shin Mokhtee Village, six miles from Dawei, derived from Mottathunakhagara City. The pagoda in Shin Mokhtee Village, located on right side of Dawei-Myeik motor road, was enshrined with Shin Mokhtee Buddha image.

Shin Oak Aw pagoda Shin Oak Aw pagoda, located in the precinct of Shwekyaunggyi Monestary in Peinnwtaw Ward of Dawei was built with significant architectural works including 11 circular decorative bands. King of Shwetaundsar Min Shin Zaw built Shin Oak Aw pagoda as NanU pagoda. The King built Shwe Taung Sar Pagoda two years after construction of Shin Oak Aw pagoda.

Lawka Tharaphu pagoda Lawka Tharaphu pagoda is a Buddhist pagoda in Dawei, Myanmar. The temple is notable for a 74 m sculpture of a reclining Buddha located on the Pagoda’s ground. The pagoda is a popular tourist destination.

Maungmakan Beach Maungmakan is a village and beach located approximately 12 km north-west of Dawei, thr capital of Thanintharyi Region. It is the second oldest beach established in Myanmar after Ngapali.

Myaw Yit Pagoda Myaw Yit pagoda is a Buddhist pagoda located in Dawei off the coast of Maungmagan Beach. It is situated on a small island surrounded by the sea, and that makes it worth visiting as the temple isn’t otherwise unique. A wooden bridge connects the pagoda with the shore, and there are a few viewpoints near the temple which are hotspots among the tourists for witnessing gorgeous sunsets.

Inle is the most famous freshwater lake in Myanmar and located in Nyaungshwe Township of Tauunggyi District of Shan State. It is a second largest lake in Myanmar with an estimated surface area of 116 km2, and one of the highest at an elevation of 2,900 ft. The lake drains through the Nam Pilu or Balu Chaung on its southern end. There is also a hot spring on its northwestern shore. It is famous for its floating villages and gardens and the unique way of life of the local ethnic, known as Intha, with their living communities based entirely on the water. The inhibitants of the lake are called Intha, and they are devout Buddhists. This is the reason there are about a hundred Buddhist pagodas and about of a thousand stupas in this area. It is almost famous for its scenic beauty and the unique leg rowing of the Inthas, the native dwellers.

Phaung Daw Oo Pagoda Phaung Daw Oo is a notable Buddhist site in Myanmar, located on the InLake in Shan State. Surrounding the Pagoda, and the basement are shops selling traditional Shan and Burmese merchandise.The pagoda houses five small gilged images of Buddha, which have been covered in gold leaf to the point that their original forms cannot be seen. The gold-leaf application to such excess is relatively recent.
Nga Phe Kyaung Monastery Nga Phe Chaung Monastry is a beautiful wooden monastery built on stilts around 200 years ago over the Inle Lake. holy month, especially for Christians. On December, Jesus was born. So, Christmas festival is celebrated in all Christian countries. On that day, Christians send prayers, decorate their home with Christmas trees, treat their friends with delious foods and make gifts. This habit has now spread to Myanmar, where the people of Burmese are celebrating Christmas Festival. December in the world calendar, the Burmese calendar falls in Nat Taw month. The first day of Nat Taw month is " Sar So Taw Day ". During this month, literary festivals and ceremonies are held to honor the great poets and literary scholars. It is learned that literary award ceremonies and the offering of the elder literary scholors during the reign of King Badon in Konbaung period. December also enters the winter season and is a time of abundance of grain. It is also the happy month for farmers who make all the hard work and dedication of the rainy season.

Things To Know About Ta Saung Daing Festival In Myanmar

As Myanmar is a country where the festivals are held regularly, the Ta Saung Daing Festival,the festival of light, is celebrated in November.It is a Buddhist religious festival. It is also the time of celebration for the people of Myanmar. On the full moon night of Ta Saung Mon, lamps and candles are lit in every house along the road and offered to Buddha. The full moon day of Ta Saung Mon is a special day like the full moon day of Thidingyut. On that day, Buddhists do good deeds in monasteries, Donating Ka Thain robes to monks and respect for the elders. It is very excellent view for foreigners to see the real traditions of Myanmar. One of the most popular festival held in Ta Saung Mon, one of the 12 months of Myanmar, is the Taunggyi Hot Balloon Festival. This festival is a traditional festival held in Taunggyi, Shan State every year around the full moon day of Ta Saung Mon. There are two types of hot air balloon competition, daytime and nighttime.
Daytime hot air balloons are usually animal figurings and the night balloons have two types. The night sky is littered with firecrackers and the fireworks are lit to decorate the night scene.
