A visit to the Backstreet Cultural Museum is well worth it (bonus: it’s located in the historic Treme-Lafitte neighborhood). Great place to learn about the Mardi Gras Indians, Baby Dolls, Krewes, North Side Skull and Bone Gang, and more. The museum is small but the staff is really friendly and will answer any questions.

This local jeweler in the village of Sirince, Turkey, made all of the jewelry for the movie Troy!

Opa!

Turkey is a Muslim country (albeit a secular one). Still, the call to prayer can be heard from the mosques 5 times a day (can you hear it over the wind?) This stop in Bodrum, (playground of the rich and famous), was a change from the original cruise itinerary, but what a fantastic one it was! I would come back here in a heartbeat!
