Fun run!

The 2022 Valentine 5K & Kids Fun Run is just over one week away! For those who want to test out the new route prior to next Saturday, please check out the new map.

We unfortunately had to re-route this year's race away from the Flat Creek Greenway due to the damage it received from heavy rains this past summer. This year, runners will remain on the sidewalk up NC-9 and connect to Flat Creek Road via Cotton Avenue. Once the loop is completed, runners will continue back to the lake, run through the start line, and pick up the route on the Lake Tomahawk walking path where the finish line will be located. Let us know if you have any questions.

UPDATE: Due to the most recent guidance issued by the state on COVID-19 restrictions, the Black Mountain Pool will now be operating the 2021 season under normal operations.

The Black Mountain Pool will be open for the 2021 season! To better ensure the safety of all pool-goers, we will be implementing several safety measures to reduce the spread of COVID-19.

For the 2021 pool season, we will be operating at 50% capacity (150 people) and will have social distancing measures in place. For 2021, no season passes will be offered. However, daily entry passes may be purchased in advance by 9:00 p.m. the day before (available through the link below). Day-of passes will also be sold at the entrance (located on the tennis court side of the pool) if space is available. If the pool is at max capacity, people will be let in as others exit. No re-entry will be allowed. Pool rentals will still be available through the Recreation offices. For more information about the 2021 Black Mountain Pool Season, please visit our website at
