DID YOU KNOW??

This is a Tesla model Y battery. It takes up all of the space under the passenger compartment of the car.

To manufacture it you need:
--12 tons of rock for Lithium (can be extracted from sea water)
-- 5 tons of cobalt minerals (Most cobalt is made as a byproduct of
the processing of copper and nickel ores. It is the most difficult
material to obtain for a battery and the most expensive.)
-- 3 tons nickel ore
-- 12 tons of copper ore

You must move 250 tons of soil to obtain:
-- 26.5 pounds of Lithium
-- 30 pounds of nickel
-- 48.5 pounds of manganese
-- 15 pounds of cobalt

To manufacture the battery also requires:
-- 441 pounds of aluminum, steel and/or plastic
-- 112 pounds of graphite

The Caterpillar 994A is used for the earthmoving to obtain the essential minerals. It consumes 264 gallons of diesel in 12 hours.

Finally you get a “zero emissions” car.

Presently, the bulk of the necessary minerals for manufacturing the batteries come from China or Africa. Much of the labor for getting the minerals in Africa is done by children! If we buy electric cars, it's China who profits most!

BTW, this 2021 Tesla Model Y OEM battery (the cheapest Tesla battery) is currently for sale on the Internet for $4,999 not including shipping or installation. The battery weighs 1,000 pounds (you can imagine the shipping cost). The cost to replace Tesla batteries is:

Model 3 -- $14,000+ (Car MSRP $38,990)
Model Y -- $5,000–$5,500 (Car MSRP $47,740)
Model S -- $13,000–$20,000 (Car MSRP $74,990)
Model X -- $13,000+ (Car MSRP $79,990)

It takes SEVEN years for an electric car to reach net-zero CO2. The life expectancy of the batteries is 10 years (average). Only in the last three years do you begin to reduce your carbon footprint. Then the batteries have to be replaced and you lose all the gains you made in those three years.

A copy and paste: In my autobiography, I want to share my incredible journey as I joined the first caravans of peace that traveled all over the world, creating peaceful gatherings based on love and sharing. These gatherings, known as Rainbow gatherings, brought together people from all walks of life, uniting them with the consciousness of one world and promoting unity.

I was captivated by the beauty of these gatherings, and I decided to travel the world to help create more of them. The Rainbow gatherings were like a tapestry of colors, ideas, visions, and dreams, symbolizing the diversity and harmony among the participants. The central focus was World Peace, and we aimed to bring cultures together to live sustainably and freely, much like a tribal family.

One of the remarkable aspects of the Rainbow Family Gathering was that there were no leaders, no structures, and no official spokespersons. It was a community where everyone lived in harmony, respecting nature and the environment. Held in outdoor settings, the gatherings allowed us to connect deeply with each other and the Earth.

These gatherings were non-profit and non-commercial, and all supplies were either donated or funded through the "Magic Hat," a communal fund-raising instrument. We didn't charge admission fees, and there was no exchange of money within the gatherings. Instead, we all volunteered to take care of various tasks like washing dishes, cooking, and gathering firewood.

The essence of the gatherings was to maintain an organic and panic-free atmosphere, where decisions were made collectively and positively. The "Magic Hat" was the key to sustaining the community, as it provided funds for essential supplies such as food, medical items, and transportation.

During our time at the Rainbow Family Gatherings, we embraced a lifestyle free from electronic devices, alcohol, drugs, and other addictions. We welcomed positive energy and music, encouraging everyone to bring their musical instruments and contribute to the collective harmony.

In this remarkable community, all you needed to bring was your own plate, fork, spoon, and cup to ensure we kept the water and ground clean and left a positive impact on the environment.

My experiences at the Rainbow Family Gatherings were transformative, and I cherish the memories of living in harmony with like-minded souls, working together towards the common goal of peace, unity, and love. The Rainbow Family Gatherings taught me valuable lessons about community, sustainability, and the power of collective action in creating a better world.

Cyclist Tony Adams
This interesting fellow just passed through Brookston. I caught up with him just a ways east of town on SR 18. Adams has dedicated the past 23 years to life on the road, crossing 38 states with hopes of cycling through all 50 one day. He has been hit by cars 4 times! He is currently on his way from Ft. Collins, Colorado, to the the state Maine.
You can learn more about him by googling, "cyclist Tony Adams."

A hippie was a member of a liberal counterculture, originally a youth movement that started in the United States and the United Kingdom during the mid-1960s and spread to other countries around the world. The word hippie came from hipster and was initially used to describe beatniks who had moved into New York City's Greenwich Village and San Francisco's Haight-Ashbury district. The term hippie was first popularized in San Francisco by Herb Caen, who was a journalist for the San Francisco Chronicle. The origins of the terms hip and hep are uncertain, although by the 1940s both had become part of African American jive slang and meant "sophisticated; currently fashionable; fully up-to-date”. The Beats adopted the term hip, and early hippies inherited the language and countercultural values of the Beat Generation. Hippies created their own communities, listened to psychedelic music, embraced the sexual revolution, and used drugs such as cannabis, L*D, pe**te and psilocybin mushrooms to explore altered states of consciousness. In January 1967, the Human Be-In in Golden Gate Park in San Francisco popularized hippie culture, leading to the Summer of Love on the West Coast of the United States, and the 1969 Woodstock Festival on the East Coast. Hippies in Mexico, known as jipitecas, formed La Onda and gathered at Avándaro, while in New Zealand, nomadic housetruckers practiced alternative lifestyles and promoted sustainable energy at Nambassa. In the United Kingdom in 1970, many gathered at the gigantic Isle of Wight Festival with a crowd of around 400,000 people. I was there! In later years, mobile "peace convoys" of New Age travelers made summer pilgrimages to free music festivals at Stonehenge and elsewhere. In Australia, hippies gathered at Nimbin for the 1973 Aquarius Festival and the annual Cannabis Law Reform Rally or MardiGrass. "Piedra Roja Festival", a major hippie event in Chile, was held in 1970. Hippie fashion and values had a major effect on culture, influencing popular music, television, film, literature, and the arts. Since the 1960s, many aspects of hippie culture have been assimilated by mainstream society.
During the past few years, attempts to put on exhibits to expound on the Hippies or Summer of Love or of Woodstock was and is well meant, but somewhat futile as is like trying to capture lighting in a bottle….. Nice try, but (IMHO) …no cigar. The philosophies of the true Hippie does still live on but these days to run across a true Hippie is a lot harder than you may think. Alas…..keep your eyes open, they’re still out there just the same, but not always where you may think them to be.
