Announcement of the Ministry of Tourism of the Kingdom of Cambodia on "Information on Questioning Tourists about Amount of Cash Carried before Entering to the Kingdom of Cambodia"

Recently, there is some misleading requirement and condition for tourists to carry cash between 1,000 USD to 2,000 USD before entering to the Kingdom of Cambodia and some airlines’ staffs have also requested the tourists to show the cash amount between 1,000 USD to 2,000 USD at the airlines check in counters before permitting to board the aircraft.

According to the meeting of Inter-Ministerial Commission for the Facilitation of Tourists and Passengers’ Travel and Transportation at the Nationwide International Border Checkpoints on 20th December 2022, the Ministry of Tourism of the Kingdom of Cambodia is honored to clarify for the public, all tourism operators, airlines, transportation companies, and all tourists as the following:

1. The Royal Government of Cambodia does not have such policy, requirement and condition for tourists to carry cash between 1,000 USD to 2,000 USD before entering to the Kingdom of Cambodia.
2. The request for tourists to declare the amount of cash carried is the duty of the official at the international border checkpoints for only suspected case and not all tourists are subject to make the declaration.

The Ministry of Tourism of the Kingdom of Cambodia encourages all tourists to check and follow the requirement and condition that have been set by Cambodia International Border Checkpoints. We are looking forward to warmly welcome all tourists to visit “Cambodia: Kingdom of Wonder
