Not that you need a sign, but this is it: take that trip w/ your best friend. & I had a ball exploring all that has to offer in the Fall. Here are a few recs for your next trip.
🍽:
Marigny Brasserie (whether you're craving roasted brussels or a shrimp po'boy, this is a great spot to pull up a chair at the bar and catch live music and a late night bite).
: Discovered when a kind motherly woman stopped me on the street to ask if I'd like to see some of the greatest jazz musicians of our time. Who says no to that? They play at Snug Harbor in the back of the restaurant. Before the show, we recommend the gumbo, red beans + rice and .
: Definitely the most hipster spot we stopped at, but damn can they bake a delightful pastry (here's looking at you, Kouign-Amann). Great place to carb load before a walking tour of the Garden District.
: Just kidding, don't eat here. But definitely go for the entertainment. You never know what characters you'll meet at the bar...
: We know, we know. It's like, so touristy. But with good reason. Have you ever seen a stiff breeze blowing massive amounts of powdered sugar all over a restaurant and no one caring because the beignets are just that good?
🍸
: A fun new bar just off the Bourbon Street mayhem. The bartender (Frank?) is just the right amount of attentive and makes an oddly tasty dry ice cocktail. Also, the pizza was the unsung hero of the night, fueling us for the epic Krewe of Boo parade.
: 200 years of history, countless random business cards over absinthe splashed walls, & the legend of a famous meeting between pirate Jean Lafitte and Andrew Jackson drew us to this bar for our first Sazerac.
The Apple Barrel Bar: Blink & you'll miss this shoebox-sized cash only bar. No frills, but a great spot to plot your next musical adventure on Frenchmen St.
The Maison: Another Frenchman Street darling. If you want to hear some seriously impressive pipes w/ a local draft beer in hand, this is the spot for you.
Selina Boutique Hotel: Best craft cocktail, hands down.
