Want your business to be the top-listed Travel Agency?
Dr. Chet Roden earned his Ph.D. in Biblical Studies/Old Testament at Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary. While earning his Ph.D., Dr. Roden trained in archaeology at Tel Hazor under the direction of Amnon Ben-Tor of Hebrew University in Jerusalem. In order to pay for those trips, Dr. Roden assisted his mentor, Dr. Steve Andrews, with planning and organizing the travel arrangements, working with both travel agencies and the students. These experiences led him to write his dissertation on the correlation of archaeology and the Bible and dream of one day leading his own trips to Israel.
After seminary days, Dr. Roden not only became a professor of OT and Archaeology leading student groups to Israel, he has also been an active participant in archaeological excavations at Tel Gezer and Tel Hadid. At Gezer, Dr. Roden was Area C supervisor working with Dr. Dan Warner, Lead Archaeologist and professor at New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary, Dr. Eli Yannai of the Israel Antiquities Authority, Tviska Tsuk, Chief Archaeologist with the Israel Nature and Parks Authority, and Dr. Jim Parker, Director of the Moskau Institute of Archaeology and the Center for Archaeological Research (NOBTS). In 2019, Dr. Roden joined the new excavations at Tel Hadid as a Co-supervisor. The Tel Hadid Expedition is a joint venture between NOBTS and Tel Aviv University directed by Ido Koch of Tel Aviv University, Dan Warner and Jim Parker of NOBTS, and Eli Yannai of the IAA.
Dr. Roden has also written and published three books for academic and devotional audiences. Furthermore, he has pastored 5 churches through the years. Dr. Roden’s varied experiences uniquely enables Roden Bible Journeys to blend spiritual, archaeological, and cultural travel into fascinating biblical journeys!
Dr. Roden’s Bible Journeys launched in 2019. The endeavor began at the prompting of family and friends who believed Dr. Roden had more to offer the traveler than what the standard trips provided. Thus, Roden Bible Journeys is a collaboration between those family members and Dr. Roden as they attempt to provide fascinating travel into the worlds of the Bible.
