Let's teleport together to visit the Far Side Of The Moon in 360° immersive view.
Do you know the far side of the Moon has NOT been photographed (from the Moon) until recently (2019-1-11). It remains a mystery for many years since Apollo 11 (July 16–24, 1969). 50 years later, the China’s Chang’e-4 robot (嫦娥四号) successful landed and captured this breathtaking image you are seeing now (and I turned it into 360 view here). This is mankind's first time getting to see what the far side of the moon look like up close "in person" (we suggest you view this in a VR headset like Oculus Quest 2)
We are within the SPA basin, which is around 2,500 kilometers (1,550 miles) across. What you are seeing is just a small fraction of it from within the Von Kármán crater, a decent-sized impact scar within the larger SPA basin itself, whose relatively flat innards made for a good landing site for the China’s Chang’e-4 robot. This 360 photo also displays many smaller craters far younger than the SPA basin and the Von Kármán crater themselves.
You can also see Yutu-2 玉兔二号 (“Jade Rabbit-2”), the mobile rover part of the stationary Chang’3-4 lander package, just in front of you. The earth, however, is a composited image by me, to make the black sky more interesting. You won't see the earth, in reality, from the far side of the moon.
I hope you enjoy this immersive 360 image of the moon from the Moon. Follow us for more space-related 360 immersive images and space art.
