I am Dutch, living in France and speaking to you in English so everyone is capable to understand. I love to share my passion for the outdoors and my wonderful backyard with you. In the winter I am organising awesome snowshoe adventures in the winter wonderland of Samoëns. As a French qualified ‘Accompagnateur en Montagnes’ I am allowed to lead you around on snowshoes in the winter and on hikingboo

Far from the pistes, you’ll discover utterly magical, Narnia-like landscapes. Snowshoe walks make snowy winter terrain accessible to anyone and everyone. Whether you take a half or full day to conquer a summit, stroll through the woods, or build an igloo as a family, there’s an excursion to suit your needs. The Haut-Giffre valley offers a range of extraordinary walking itineraries. Take a guided walk in the company of a professional in order to find the most beautiful paths and enjoy the most spectacular views over the Mont Blanc range. Whatever your level of fitness, there’s a route to suit you. Today we faced the miserable weather. But we had a nice hike, a tasty lunch and some lovely chats.
So a day well spend I would say 👍

This morning we build (half of) a first igloo of the new winter season. The snow was still a bit to fresh and fluffy (luxery problems ;-) to work with, but an open roof wasn’t to bad with this beautiful weather.

With a huge North Western storm coming in this weekend, the snow conditions may look like this coming days; drowning in fresh snow!

That was the last Mountain Bathing journey of the year and my first snowshoe adventure of the season ahead.

Over 3 days, we hiked from hut to hut, melted snow, cooked meals, shared deep conversations, reflected, laughed, and even shed a tear.

Above all; we felt truly alive !👍

This might have been the last igloo we’ve been building this season, thanks to Carol and her amazing family!

Thanks a lot for having me today guys; teamwork makes the dream work. Together we crafted an igloo, but way more important; unforgettable memories 👍

Luckily we’ve got la Bourgoise to finish the snow season. Thanks great bunch of Dutch ladies for having me this afternoon and showing you around in my backyard.

Today wasn’t to shabby …

In 2 days time we ticked of the mountains big 5 + 1 bonus animal! Yesterday we spotted loads of Mouflons and Chamois and an eagle. Today we had a bearded volture (Gypaète Barbu) circling above our heads, we saw some roo deer and spotted a Snowshoe hare (which is pretty rare)

Day 2 of our Samoens Snowshoe Secrets was a snow-safari; we saw about 40 mouflons, around 80 chamois and an eagle

Remember that:

The bigger the mission is and the more serious it gets, the more it’s important to do some pre planning

Always be willing to change the plan if the conditions, terrain or the human factor ‘asks’ for it; is there a plan B ?!

Check the avi bulletin when you go into the backcountry

Bring your (holy) safety-trinity and make sure how to use it

Be aware of slope angles above 30 degrees
and aim for the safest itinery possible.

Stay safe guys, but don’t be afraid to enjoy some fresh snow! 🤙
