Just down the road from The Beach House (5 mins by car) this is a gorgeous spot to visit and then meander down to the beach to see the seal colony at Horsey Gap.

A magical morning at Horsey Windpump, one of the Broads' iconic buildings.

Horsey is a must-visit, especially in winter with its large colony of seals. You can view the seals from November to January when over 100 pups are born. The village is only a mile from the coast, accessible by footpath over the dunes, and the beach itself offers wonderful walks.

No visit to Horsey is complete without a stop at Horsey Windpump, an iconic landmark of the Broads. This lovingly-restored building stands proudly beside the criss-crossing d***s, offering a glimpse into the area's rich agricultural and industrial heritage.

During open days, visitors can head to the top for panoramic views of the surrounding countryside, wetlands, and wildlife, check out the cafe or take a peaceful stroll along the nearby walking trails to immerse themselves in the beauty of the Broads.

A VERY sad day for us today at Winterton beach. We lost two young healthy pups due to human intervention. The first pup (pictured) was literally surrounded by people in the dunes and the mum couldn’t get back it to, so abandoned it where it later died.

The second was a mum and healthy pup near the slope at the cafe. Two young children were allowed by their mother to chase the young unweaned, non waterproof pup into the water where it drowned.

THIS IS NOT ACCEPTABLE!

Please keep your distance.

Please listen to the wardens.

The site is assessed every day and if the wardens ask you to walk on the high dunes this is for your safety and the safety and protection of the seals.
