Which is your favorite?
My favorite is Yosemite, closely followed by Arches.
Often it’s thought you have to fly over an ocean or go to a different country in order to experience a new place.
The real question is, have you explored our own country?

Worth the effort.
Funny how a simple coffee shop patio w/ family can be so enjoyable.
So I am on week 3 of a broken leg. I missed a 3 week run out west skiing. But my friends went without me.
They stayed at The Lodge at Blue Sky and sent me some pics of what I missed. I was then headed to Tahoe for a week. Next was the Ritz at Bachelor Gulch then finishing at the St. Regis Deer Valley…instead, my leg is iced and elevated in AVL.
I can say it was the best hotel experience these guys have had anywhere, and we have travelled the world together for 30 years. To quote a friend “we were blown away at the service and experience “!

Today we cruise through Lahnek, Germany.
Everyone else got to go tour a 13th century castle by candlelight…but I watched Modern Family.
Then had some delicious salmon delivered.
I got everyone back home looking for a orthopedic surgeon and in a matter of hours got an appointment for Monday.
Accidents happen when you are active, when accidents happen while you’re traveling it’s quite important to keep your mental state healthy.
I used to work@as a tour guide and am now reminded of a quote we used to use.
”this too shall pass”
In today’s episode let’s discuss adversity.
I ended up with a fractured tibia, and would need to wait a minimum of 9 days to get an Ortho appointment in Germany. Then I’d have to fly home from either Munich or Frankfurt.
But wait!
The German union of some sort is on strike for 4 days, so no departing flights until Saturday and airport only open to arrivals.
So I arranged a new flight out of Amsterdam, the amazing staff at AMA came to pick me and Eli up and get us back to our boat.
Upon arrival tons of staff to get me situated, amazing food for room service and great views of the Rhine.
The quality of a company can be seen when accidents and unexpected things happen. I feel so lucky to be on

Thanksgiving, my favorite holiday. The one day everyone just relaxes. Hangs out with family, friends, extended family, or sometimes just a few people.
Travel can be like that also, if you let it.
Wandering around or being guided around…you can just relax and notice things that aren’t on a tourist map.
The pics in the post are from a recent cruise to the Med…and honestly it doesn’t matter where each was taken.
Just like Thanksgiving, with a bit of planning…you can see the world in a relaxed way..it’s beautiful…but you gotta get out there.

Markets and Food.
Local produce, fish, meats, peppers, cheese prepared products and oils are plentiful in Spain. Whether it’s in a pop-up market or daily market in the city center…it’s hoe locals and tourists experience food.
Finding the right market (there can be multiple per city) can be tough….it’s just another reason to use a professional help you plan travel!
When your late…like the very last to board the ship kinda late.
The sends a car to your taxi, then drops you off on the gangway. Before you can clear security, the gangway begins to be pulled up to store.
Phew, on to the next port. Pay attention to the time the ship leaves….it matters!

Monaco…. The most densely populated and second smallest country in the world. Arguably one of the nicest casinos (Le Casino Monte Carlo) in the world is here…and was started in the 1850’s. Three Bond films were shot in Monte Carlo and utilized the casino.
Most interesting is the taxi phone to get a taxi…just pick up, they ask a few questions, 5 minutes later your Mercedes shows up beside the phone!
Steep terrain drops into the ocean, 30 miles away you would be deep in the French Alps above 10,000 feet. The views are stunning, it’s super clean and unbelievably safe (there are police everywhere). There is near 100% surveillance of every ground surface in the country and 1 officer per 100 residents. It’s also where Interpol was started.
I could go on and on about Monaco…a very amazing place to visit…but you should just go yourselves!
My general rule of thumb on cruises is to spend time in the port the ship docks in. Often cruisers take an excursion, and while there is absolutely nothing wrong with that, sometimes the ports are just different.
When you wander it can take you places the locals live, walk dogs, shop, eat or live. And while it’s 50/50 whether you find anything of interest, there will be a 100% likelihood you will see how the folks in the community actually live.

Every turn in Rome leads to an interesting view.
is a treasure in the middle of it all. Originally developed as the Italian headquarters for Singer sewing machines…it has been transformed into an amazing 5* hotel.
Between the tons of marble, rooftop bar and restaurant, spacious suites and incredible staff….I didn’t want to leave! And, neither would you…..
First half of the day in Rome. I try,really try, to het up and get going in the morning. Watching cities come alive has always appealed to me.
I pick one spot and wander around until I het there. This morning was the Colosseum. It was friggin packed with people but s block away was empty.
Group travel can help you check off a list of things to see. Independent exploration will change your perception.
Last time I flew Alitalia was in the 90’s. We were struck by lightning and lost an engine but made it to Milan.
The chances of that again are small and the pilot says we have no weather to worry about….

Scotland remains unpredictable but is definitely some of the most rewarding goof on the planet.

What I learned recently. In the last couple weeks it feels like I finally got my business running. When you are a one employee show there are things you alone must do, delegating is expensive and time consuming. So you prioritize, work later than usual and procrastinate. Then I remembered the Nike slogan…. After invoicing my first eight clients, booking 16 hotels, negotiating things clients may never notice, reading through nine pages of terms and conditions, hours of tech support with “Plaid” to verify a business account, getting Covid at the club member guest and networking my ass off….I am ready for a vacation. I bet you are also….because everyone, no matter your role, is busy.
