Exciting news for air passengers in Canada! The government has proposed changes to improve your travel experience. These changes include:

Increased compensation for delays and cancellations: The government is proposing to raise the maximum amount of compensation that airlines must pay passengers for flight delays and cancellations.

Better communication during disruptions: Airlines will be required to provide more timely and accurate information to passengers during travel disruptions, such as flight delays or cancellations.

Improved accommodations for passengers with disabilities: Airlines will be required to provide better accommodations for passengers with disabilities, including more accessible seating and better training for airline staff.

As a travel advisor, I am thrilled to see these changes being proposed to ensure that air passengers are treated fairly and receive the compensation they deserve. Keep an eye out for updates!

With talks of a snowstorm touching down on the biggest travel weekend of the year here are a few things you can do if your flight gets cancelled ⬇️

1. Take initiative- Check your flight status before you leave (it’s a simple one but many people are in a rush to leave and can forget)

2. Be informed- Make sure you are recording the calls you have with customer service and take screen shots of any social media correspondence.

3. Understand the airlines obligations- Airlines have an obligation to inform you of any flight cancellations or changes. They also MUST offer you a refund or an alternate travel date.

The short answer is yes. I always recommend travel insurance.

Here's what is covered with travel insurance:

1. Medical emergencies
2. Trip cancelation
3. Emergency evacuation
4. Flights
5. Lost AND delayed bagage
6. 24/7/365 emergency assistance.

You can’t prevent the unexpected from happening prior to/or during your trip, so travel insurance is always a good idea.

Have you heard of the MPC app? For many of us who were unable to renew our Nexus during Covid, there is now an app that can get you through customs in half the time! ⁠

The MPC app allows eligible travelers to submit their passport and customs declaration information through a free, secure app on their phone. It streamlines the traveler’s entry process into the United States by reducing passport control inspection time and overall wait time! ⁠
⁠
Here's how it works:⁠
1. Download the MPC app from the app store⁠
2. Upload your passport information (if you are traveling with your family you can upload their info too!)⁠
3. When you arrive at the airport hit submit application and you will be given a QR code⁠
4. Follow the signs that say MPC app at customs (this is a different and usually shorter line)⁠
5. Show you're QR code to the agent and you're done!
