The Appledore lifeboat deployed yesterday ... well done all involved and glad safe home ...

At around 10.30 this morning a small yacht was spotted from Appledore lifeboat house in serious trouble apparently caught in the surf on South Tail, Bideford Bar.
The volunteer crew for the inshore lifeboat were paged immediately and were water born extremely quickly.
By the time they got to the 16-18 foot yacht it had managed to get itself off the South Tail and was now on North Tait with its windows staved in. One person was on board.
The lifeboat tried to es**rt the yacht into the safety of the estuary but the casualty was making no way against a fast ebbing tide and therefore the lifeboat crew put the yacht on tow.
Due to the increasing shallowness of the water it was made safe on the spare lifeboat mooring.
