We’ve received our first guest-book entry! Fitting it should come from the most important guest ever ❤️ Thank you Mrs. Fowler (mom). We are so happy you enjoyed your stay.

“Ireland proved to be even more than I had imagined. The beautiful, natural scenery is breathtaking. There is so much history in all the castles, churches, cemeteries and ruins of the many once magnificent structures. The people are warm and friendly and Old Mill No. 11 is the perfect choice for a place to stay!”

Bathroom update! Almost there.

The main bathroom renovation is well underway! Can’t wait to see the transformation…that 1990s bathroom was sad.

These are graphic renderings from photos taken over the years of some of the most memorable places we’ve visited. Malahide Castle, Saint Patrick’s Cathedral and Hook Lighthouse.

Anyone that knows us, knows we will definitely be involved. Can’t wait to see what they have planned. I’m hoping it has something to do with the River frontage at the back of the property. 🤞

Heard back from the handyman today. He did a complete sweep over the entire unit and had a pretty good report. No major surprises thank goodness! As expected, the kitchen is pretty bad off. All appliances need to be replaced (which we planned for). The cabinets and countertops are pretty bad off too. The tile floor is cracked in several places. He also said the area beneath the stairs was indeed big enough for a nook! I think we will tackle the kitchen first. Can’t wait to see it transform into 21st century chic. Pictured where it stands now and our goal, from slate floors to quartz counters to the soaring cabinets. It will definitely be the focal point of the upstairs area.

One of the first projects we want to tackle is adding a nook beneath the stairs. It’s about 7 ft wide and 3-5 feet deep (from what we can tell from the vendors video). A child’s bed with owner storage underneath would be perfect! But we would settle for an office space. It all depends on space though. We’ve got a contractor heading out next week! Fingers crossed.

Sligo

Just a short 20 minute drive from our front door, you’ll arrive in Sligo, a Wild Atlantic Way Destination. Located in the North of Ireland, it straddles the Garavogue River where it meets Sligo Bay. It’s known for its literary heritage and rugged countryside.

But first, what is this “Wild Atlantic Way”. Well I’m glad you asked.

The Wild Atlantic Way is a tourism trail on the west coast, and on parts of the north and south coasts, of Ireland. The 2,500 km driving route passes through nine counties and three provinces, stretching from County Donegal's Inishowen Peninsula in Ulster to Kinsale, County Cork, in Munster, on the Celtic Sea coast.

According to National Geographic, A WILD ATLANTIC Way journey in Ireland might include exploring castle ruins, taking a boat to an ancient island monastery, watching a step dancer in a pub music session, staying in a lighthouse keeper’s quarters, or pulling lobster pots for your dinner. Authentic experiences are what this coastal touring route covering nearly 1,600 miles from Donegal to West Cork is about.
