Slow Mo of Brayden

Relaxed stance/setup. Still standing a little taller than we would like to see but we are continually working to get the legs involved more. More power still in his hips and legs.

Little toe tap for timing. Been experimenting with a few timing pieces.

Balanced position at front foot strike. Barrel starting to work closely to the rear shoulder. We are working to get this motion as efficient as possible.

Home Plate Connection at contact between the arms and chest.

Solid follow through. Would prefer a little more sink with the kegs. Working on that as well.

Keep on grinding, B!

What a tight, connected turn from Brayden here! Watch how fast his left arm connects to his body and how the lower half initiates the entire sequence. Power coming from the ground up!

Home plate silhouette between his arms and chest for an extended duration of the swing. Stays through the ball nicely. Roll over doesn’t occur til much after contact. This is how you hit lasers!

Great posture - head barely moves. Turn his body in a tight space.

Some pics from our Camps/Clinics on the field this past summer.

We usually run 2-3 days a week on field in summer but were limited in 2020 for obvious reasons.

If you want to book a team hitting clinic, defensive clinic, general workout, or speed and agility, we have you covered! Inquire for more info!

We break into smaller groups and the kids get a ton of reps in over the course of 2-3 hours. We always have a minimum of 3 coaches (usually 4 or 5) and strive to keep the kids motivated and engaged.

I have been developing my coaching techniques for over 13 years now and have some of the best mentors in the game such.

We talk about setting goals and having a plan to execute those goals before each camp or clinic.

Brayden killing one off the backspin tee and resembling Junior a bit!

Brayden has been with us for over 4 years now and does a minimum of 2 hours per week - lately he has been training for 4 hours weekly!

Mookie doesn’t have the traditional “extension” in his swing because he keeps his 90 in check throughout the action of the swing. Similar to Trout. They both maintain the “Punch” action very well!

What most people don’t see is the “Punch, 90 degree angle etc” at the point of contact.

You hear many people talk about getting the arms extended. “Extended arms” are at the arms weakest point.

A “flexed” arm is at the arms strongest point.

Extension happens as a result of the action.

Dario hitting a rocket during his session last night!

When Dario came to use he had a solid athletic base to work from but was not using his body to the max. We have worked to maintain athleticism throughout the swing and use the legs and ground to his advantage.

Rhythm and Timing have also been a focus and approach at the plate.

Dario has been slugging lately!

Keep up the hard work!

See what happens when you don’t control your emotions?

Donaldson put them up by a run with this solo shot.

Instead of just running the bases and going back to the dugout, he got cute, kicked dirt on home plate, and got ejected.

His team later lost the game 4-3 and these are important games.

Had he not gotten ejected, he would have had 2-3 more at bats to help his team win.

But instead he chose to be petty and his team lost the game.

Choose wisely. Your actions affect yourself and your team.

I’m willing to bet Josh will not be happy looking back at this. He might not admit it.

A $500 bat doesn’t fix a $1 swing and a poor mindset will ruin a beautiful swing. Hitting, not hacking.

Mookie putting everything together here:

Rhythm & Timing

Balance

Slow to fast

Staying connected - the legs are the driving force

At launch position he is in the ideal slot to fire

Stretching his body to the max but not casting his hands away from his body. The closer you hold the bat to your body the faster you can swing it.

Watch the legs and how they work. Watch the sink after the swing. Staying balanced and using the ground and legs to the max. Ability to adjust to any pitch.

The barrel works close to the rear shoulder and never gets too far away from the body. The swing is a slight upstroke - an arc ⚾️💥

Home plate connection between the arms and chest 🏠 - the most important things happen at home!

Beautiful sequence. Relaxed. Focused. Purposeful.

Brayden with the opposite field home run!

Way to use those legs B!

Sink to stay connected!

Sneak peek into a session with one of our youngest players - 5 years old and learning how to build his swing from the ground up!

Chase could barely hit a ball off the tee when he started with us earlier this summer.

Keep workin Chase!

We aren’t the biggest fans of many drills - we use them when a certain feel is needed or when a player has an issue that is not being corrected with basic swing work.

Here Jackson is using a exercise ball to work on his balance and maintain his posture. He has a tendency to dip his back shoulder hard, get out of posture, and extend his arms prior to contact.

These swings isolated the upper and lower halves and made him stay in balance. Good for a feel. Feeling connected to the ground and balanced up top.

His swings on the Personal Pitcher later in the session were his best ever!

Keep on grinding, Jackson! ⚾️

Watch the rotation.

The swing is an arc.

The spine is the axis that we swing around.

The closer the arms stay to the body, the faster we can swing the object we are holding - in this case, a bat.

His head doesn’t move. He is not falling backwards or tilting backwards to create lift.

He is naturally rotating around his spine and the big muscles of the body. Maintaining his posture and staying balanced.

Stay connected!

Excuse the blurry footage, but the premise is gold!

Much of this is what Coach Ron learned from his trip to San Diego to work with the best in the game.

Hitting is not nearly as complicated as people make it out to be.

Give this a watch!
