We visited the home where Jose Maria da Fonseca was founded in 1834. It’s here where you can see almost 200 years of history come alive! Since 1815, they have been producing the best and most iconic Port wines! Fonseca is the only Port house with four 100 point scoring wines!🍷😍

To top off our food tour, we had Pastel de Nata…a custard tart. This is one of the most popular traditional sweets of Portugal. It is part of the country‘s culture. The original recipe was created by the monks of the Jeronimos Monastery, and it is believed that it’s recipe remains a secret. One of the best ways to discover the Portuguese culture is through their food and wine while seated around the table…sharing stories, learning about their history through our guides, enjoying local delicacies and tasting the best wines produced in that region. It’s also a great way to support small local businesses!

We tasted Bifana - a traditional Portuguese spicy pork sandwich (YUM!!😋) served with a typical beer nicknamed by the Portuguese as “fino”.

We had Pastel de Bacalhau - cod fish cakes with a glass of Vinho Verde which is made exclusively in a region located in the northwest of Portugal and Galiza. There is no other place in the world that can produce Vinho Verde due to the geographic uniqueness of the region.

We also tasted various meats, cheeses, breads, olives, and a glass of Douro wine.

Group travel is so much fun! It’s even better when it’s with family and friends who have come together to celebrate milestone birthdays! Happy Birthday to Erika, Monica and Aurora! 🎉🎁🎂🍾

We will be visiting Porto, Coimbra, Sintra, Obidos, Lisbon and Cascais. We’ll be stopping at several wineries, tasting fabulous food, sail down the Douro River, visit palaces, learn about the history, culture and beauty of Portugal! 🇵🇹

Off to Charleston! Recapping 2023! We loved exploring Charleston! There’s so many wonderful things about this city…carriage rides, the SC aquarium, Ft. Sumter, Patriot’s Point, the market, their sweetgrass crafts, the cuisine and more! Our educational tour brought about many memories for the students and chaperones! Off on a River Cruise! March 2023 was filled with experiencing an AmaWaterways River cruise along the Danube River from Vienna to Budapest! It’s a beautiful way to see quaint villages and towns, walk the cobblestone streets, taste amazing food and get a real feel for locally immersive experiences. We started in Vienna and stopped in Durnstein and then Bratislava. How charming! Vienna has the best chocolates and the beautiful Lipizzan horses! We saw the Durnstein Abbey too! Let me know you are ready to embark on a river cruise! They are so beautiful!
