🇭🇷 Next to representing Croatia, Marko Purišić also has ties to Istria. Marko was born on 5 July, 1995 in the city of Umag, at the northwestern tip of the coastal county. Coming from a family of teachers, he instead chose to pursue a career in music, and was a guitarist for the Umag rock band Manntra.
🎸 He has a younger brother, Martin, who is also a musician under the name Val Perun and is the bass guitarist and backing vocalist of Mono Inc., a German band from Hamburg who plays gothic rock, gothic metal, and industrial. Marko Purišić contributed to Mono Inc.'s 2022 album called Ravenblack by co-writing several songs. The album reached the No. 1 spot at the German charts.
🎤 Marko Purišić started his solo career only in 2023, after leaving Manntra, with which they achieved a fourth place at an earlier Croatian Eurovision pre-qualification event, Dora 2019. His first two singles released in late 2023, and Rim Tim Tagi Dim won Dora 2024 in late February. The winning song achieved top 1 and top 2 spots on various hit charts in Croatia. The Croatian Radiotelevision (HRT) was producing a television documentary about his life and journey to Eurovision, which is set to air before his semi-final performance on 7 May.
🎵🎞️ His music revolves around autobiographical storytelling, where he takes inspiration from his personal experiences and broader societal issues, especially concerning his homeland, Croatia. Rim Tim Tagi Dim also depicts a young boy leaving Croatia in hopes of a brighter future. His musical style includes elements of pop punk, techno, metal, and house.
