Here are some tried and true tips on Packing for Success - Especially for Kids who say they are Devastatingly Bored!

Annual vacations can be the highlight of the year. Perhaps months of planning and saving for a world wind trip lasting a week or good heavens two if you get your boss to approve it 😊 I have found that while we call it a “vacation” it is often stressful for parents (or maybe just me). Packing, Prep, thinking through every possible scenario asking the age old question “What will we need?”

Responding to Devastatingly Bored Kids:

Every year my husband and I take our girls to his home country of Jamaica. We love to go spend time with family, relax at the beach and hang out with life long friends. The girls often find themselves “bored” during down time.

The following items have helped me out IMMENSELY in the past, and provided my answer to kids who are devastatingly bored 😊

Whether we are driving to/from the airport, waiting for the plane, back from the beach just hanging out at home, or God forbid THE INTERNET WENT OUT, these are the 9 essential items that I rely heavily on to keep for my 3 girls under 8 occupied:

The power of the arts!

The power of the arts!

Kingston Creative is a nonprofit arts organisation started in 2017 by a team of three co-founders who believe in using Art and Culture to achieve social and economic transformation.

In the words of the founding members "We want to see the city of Kingston leverage its creative heritage, its world-class talent and reach its potential to become a Creative City, not just in name or by UNESCO designation, but for this to be a reality for all who live in Kingston. We envision a safe and vibrant Art District in Downtown Kingston, a Creative Hub that develops and trains people and long-term, a healthy creative ecosystem in Jamaica. We are a small, voluntary organisation, and we recognise that this is a huge vision, but it is certainly a vision worth working towards."

Owner Profile - Egon Rose
[email protected]

Egon, a serial entrepreneur, was born in the hills of St. Mary. He spent his youth helping his mother by selling fruits & coconut water. Moving from the Hamilton Mountain to Ocho Rios was an adjustment at a young age, but he adapted well.

One of his first business ventures was a push cart service at age 14. Egon’s respectable manor, lively personality, and hardworking nature allotted him many regular customers and job offers doing work across the island.

He grew to work, as many Jamaicans do, in the tourism sector. For years he learned business insights of large hotels, charter services, and beach management. Do to his trustworthy reputation, he made friends and acquaintances from all over the world appreciate him as a credible and protective friend. Referrals for services rolled in for hosted travel, greeting foreign travelers and showing them the “Real Jamaica.”

He has seen the negative impact of the tourist industry on “Real Jamaica” were endless profit is made by the rich, while the working poor are left with scraps.
Big Up Nation, his newest venture, was structured to combat that mentality. It takes to heart the Jamaican Coat of Arms which reads, “Out Of Many, One People.”
