One of the magic moments of staying at the GOL, is to just sit on our beautiful verandah swing and relax with your favourite beverage as you watch the sunset over our beautiful gardens. Frannie and Pete were delighted with their stay at the GOL this weekend. ❤️

This year over 500 small businesses were nominated for the Gympie Women in Business Awards! The committee of 6 had a monumental task in short listing down to about 30. I am super excited and proud to share that as the custodian of the Grand Old Lady, I have been short listed in the *Generous Heart* category. This time last week, guests Amanda and Tony checked in as strangers, and 6 days later, they left as friends. Amanda and Tony made the most of their stay, exploring some of what our region has to offer, including a quick surf at Noosa Beach for Tony. This weekend, we have had the pleasure of hosting the winners of our lucky door prize from the Grand Old Lady Gympie Cup Day. Elaine, Richard, and their son George had a beautiful stay, and their personal feedback was that they wished they had been able to stay longer and just enjoy the property and do nothing. We have had this feedback many times over the years. "Dolce far niente" means literally, sweet doing nothing. But it's so much more than "doing nothing. " It's all about living in the moment and enjoying time just go by. That is exactly what the Grand Old Lady has to offer. So come visit and Dolce far niente! 🤗

It is such a pleasure to host this beautiful couple. Ernie and Dawn have been married for 60 years and have travelled all over the world. In recent years, they did the grey nomad thing, but now they are happy to explore areas closer to home. The Grand Old Lady is the perfect place to relax and unwind, no matter your age. I told Dawn and Ernie that on the other side of the world, they don't call me them grey nomads but rather recycled teenagers! That made them laugh, and they said they 'll take it.

We love hosting our young graduates for their formal photos, but this one was extra special. Piper has a special connection with the Grand Old Lady as we bought this beautiful old girl from her grandparents 22 years ago. Piper's mum also had her wedding photos done here 24 years ago. I loved showing the family through our home, and enjoyed listening to them reminiscing! This really was a full circle moment! ❤️

Over the weekend, we had a beautiful mother and daughter visit. The purpose of their stay was to reconnect and just spend time together. As I farewelled them the next morning they were so happy. They said they had the most wonderful stay. They laughed, they talked, they sang, they enjoyed the sunset and the garden fairy lights, they drank their morning coffee sitting at the attic window watching my neighbours' horses grazing by the tennis court fence. Jacqui said it was magic, and the Grand Old Lady is a destination and an experience in itself. Of course, I said that I had a daughter, and Bella loved sleeping in Georgia's old room. Some stories were shared, sorry Georgia. ☺️
The Grand Old Lady Attic is a perfect place for a mother and daughter reconnect. ❤️

So when I get a message like this, I can't help but feel a little nervous as to whether the Grand Old Lady will meet the expectations of young travellers from across the world! I'm happy to say that those reservations were completely misplaced. Konur and Jade wrote to me in a private note that they were "over the moon " with their decision to book the Grand Old Lady for their Easter break, exploring our backyard! No matter your age, the GOL is an experience in luxury and relaxation.
