This is a bittersweet post to make, and I wasn’t really quite sure how I was going to announce this so I thought it was best to just start with the SWEET…
I have accepted a position with the Idaho Department of Agriculture, program, acting in the capacity of Marketing and Commerce Analyst. In this role, I will be a marketing conduit for local farmers, ranchers, crafters and other artisans to get their message out to consumers and citizens.
I look forward to working with many of you with whom I have already developed relationships, and I look forward to building new connections throughout the State of Idaho going forward!
The BITTER part is that accepting this position means I will have to step back from operating my winery tour business, as it creates a conflict of interest for the work I am very excited to do. I feel very much like the business was just starting to take off, and yet I am tucking her away and putting her to sleep. Trust me, this was not an easy decision to make, but what did help is knowing the relationships I have made on this journey as a local winery tour operator are genuine, and they will only continue to grow stronger as I step into my new role.
I’ll add that it is SWEET because I feel a strong connection to this land, my home state, and know that the work I have been doing to market my winery tour business has led to this opportunity, which will help me achieve some long term personal goals.
Because I’m kind of a nerd when it comes to living local, I couldn’t pass up this opportunity -- and my new role means I can share my love and joy for all things Idaho--from wine and produce to winery tours and vineyard education, to cheesemaking, beekeeping, farmer’s markets, agventures, etc etc etc...!
I will no longer be posting to this account, but I will leave it up as a testament to the fun and sheer joy my guests of Private Idaho Winery Tours has given me this year!
THANK YOU to EVERYONE -- my guests, my associates, my colleagues, the winemakers, the tasting room staff, my friends and family for a truly great run!
CHEERS!
