Scanning for Vaal Rhebok on the mountain side we spotted this brute of an eland bull down in the valley. We could not pass up the opportunity and a plan was hatched. As we moved closer he spotted us from underneath his shady tree some 700yards away. It always amazes me how in tune animals are with their surrounding. Inch by inch we started closing the gap. We reached the 400yd mark and he stood up noticeably alert. We got into a comfortable position and waited for him to present broadside. As the shot squeezed off we held our breath to wait, for what felt like eternity, for the THUMP of the bullet hitting its mark. Impact was good and the bull went down in 60yds. That evening sitting around the fireplace hiding from the cold i could not help but reflect on a good day. This is what it is all about, quality over quantity is my aim for the company. I feel that inches alone should never be the sole determining factor on a trophy animal. Its the process, the experience and the memories.
