Astrid was eager to find the resident princess of Carrigaholt Castle but sadly failed to locate her.

A five-storey Tower House built by the MacMahon family circa 1480 and located in the nearby fishing village of Carrigaholt.

Early morning at the cottage.

The nicest time of the day to be up and out particularly during the summer months.
It’s often really still and quiet, the sun is steadily rising over the estuary and turning everything an amazing amazing pinky red, shadows stretch out over the peninsula, the moon is still present in the sky and fog often hugs a calm sea. Distant bird song in the air. It’s a real feast for the senses.

If you happen to own your own helicopter, Di**le in County Kerry is a mere 56km from the cottage. Unfortunately it’s 144km and a ferry crossing if you’re driving. Oh and it’s 256km away if you miss the ferry.
On second thought, maybe just stick to Clare 🔵🟡

One of our favourite walking routes is along the coast road.

You can stroll from the cottage to Kilbaha pier in about 40-45 minutes. Why not stop off in Keating’s Kilbaha for a bite to eat or a drink before the return leg! 🚶🏻🚶🏼‍♀️
