This humble little perimeter fence has witnessed many storms over the years.

It’s covered in beautiful lichen and bears all of the characteristics of a hard life spent by the sea. As a child, Ciara used to perch on the rails and now our children are beginning to use them to get a better view.

The nails eventually rust through and the rails begin to work themselves loose in the wind.
Repairing it with a hammer and galvanised nails is oddly one of the little jobs that brings a lot of satisfaction and it’ll continue to be repaired this way for as long as it’s willing.

Early morning at the cottage.

The nicest time of the day to be up and out particularly during the summer months.
It’s often really still and quiet, the sun is steadily rising over the estuary and turning everything an amazing amazing pinky red, shadows stretch out over the peninsula, the moon is still present in the sky and fog often hugs a calm sea. Distant bird song in the air. It’s a real feast for the senses.
