After a whole five minutes of deliberation, myself and a couple of my brothers took a day trip to the coast. We were ready to hit the beach and enjoy the sun... When we got to Crescent City, there was no sun, just a small glimmer of hope off in the overcast horizon over the Pacific Ocean.
After a quick photo op a little south of Preston Island I decided to take the crew to battery point lighthouse because f**k it, I love lighthouses for some reason. And why not I'm a man and I can love buildings if I want to.
Batter point light house began operating in
1856 and stayed in operation for 109 years. Apparently, this lighthouse is a museum, but as with every lighthouse I visit, this one is closed. The internet says it opens in the summer, though 🙄
After our quick meandering around the light house, it was time to grab some sea food (unless your Andy, Andy doesn't like seafood)
Our first attempt to get food was at an over crowded establishment called The Chart room , to be fair the over crowding was most likely due to the fact that it was spring break but just the same an hour wait time is ridiculous and my brother's and I were never properly greated but the one guy that came in after us was greated first. We thought it might be easier to go to the window that's outside which appears to be for to go orders as the window is open and there are menus taped to the glass on the right of the window ( we were never greated there either ) soooo sorry Chart room s**t out of luck I can't review a place if I don't eat the food 🖕 but I've heard great things, maybe next time? After our none existing meal in the Chart room, we shambled our way across the parking lot to find something different.
A little Cajin restaurant called the Schmidt's house of jambalaya welcomed us in with open arms. Come spend your money here, they said we'll get you fed, they said. And they didn't disappoint. The service was excellent, and with a calm, peaceful atmosphere, it made for a peaceful dinner with the homies. Rob the waiter offered up some great specials , I had the blackened soft shell crab po boy and a pint of del norter porter which was a unique and flavorful combination, Smokey had the fish and chips he said they were amazing and Andy had the roast beef po boy (because he doesn't like seafood) but he said it was great. Thanks for the amazing service and great food and actually having space for us at your table.
After dinner, we thought it would be fun to have a beer climb a rock and bull-s**t for a while before crossing back into Southern Oregon. All in all, it was a good trip. A shoutout goes out to Smokey, and Andy wouldn't have been a trip without you.
