Hetal Vasavada is a chef in residence in Balestrand for the next two weeks

Balestrand - one of our norwegian hosts - has annonuced the arrival of their first chef in residence, Hetal Vasavada, which has arrived in Balestrand and will stay there for the next two weeks. Hetal is the first chef coming to Balestrand through the In Residence in the Arctic program.

Hetal Vasavada will at her stay in Balestrand bake many tasty cookies, prepare desserts together and of course pair ciders to them.

We will exchange knowledge, inspire each other and explore new recipes with products from our countries.

There will be also some surprises in Balestrand.

Who knows, suddenly a Pop-up bakery in the centrum🤗.
It will be a sweet experience 🍎🍪🧑‍🍳🍚

From Brussels to a Maker Residency 2022 in Fablab Vágur

As a host on the platform “In Residence in the Arctic”, we have recently searched for a maker to come her to live and work here in Vági for a finite period.

We would like to take this opportunity to thank the many applicants who have chosen to inconvenience them in applying.

After receiving several qualified applications from people all over det world, we have decided to offer the residency to Navid Lari from Brussels. A young, dynamic and creative maker, with versatile set of skills.

Navid is an Interactive Storytelling/Escape Room designer efficient in use of the Laser cutter. Because of his background and previous experience in hosting workshops and teaching children in boardgame design, treasure hunt creations and much more, we believe that Navid can contribute to the teachers´ teaching here at Vágs primary school, as well as for the citizens in the local community here on the island.

We look forward to greeting him one week after Easter.

BALESTRAND-A PIECE OF HEAVEN
It’s been almost a year now since I had the pleasure to come to Balestrand for the first time. I had my EVS arrival training here, so it wasn’t by choice. Yet I’m glad I came. Together with forty other young people from Europe, I spent a week here learning about EVS, Norwegian culture and traditions.

About "In Residence in the Arctic"
The In Residence in the Arctic platform is a tool for communities to invite people to become part of their communities for a shorter or longer period of time, which also might result in new residents on a more permanent basis.

The purpose of the platform is not to attract tourists, but to attract for example skilled workers, remote workers or families that give “something” to the community, while they are in residence in the community.
