The magnificent Ansoo Lake is located in of District Mansehra, Ansoo Lake is about 4245 meters above sea level and is considered as one of the highest
This lake is called Ansoo Lake because it is shaped like a tear. The has become very popular attractions for in a very short time.
The folklore of the lake is very interesting. It’s the story of a prince, Saif ul Malook and a fairy princess Badr-ul-Jamal, whom he saw in his dreams. On her quest of her and marrying her he had to go through tough exams to earn her hand in marriage since he was a mere human and was a fairy. So the prince had to wait twelve years by the lake until they finally met but with the entry of the white giant and Tear Lake was formed approximately two miles away.
Well for the most part of the year, is not viewable due to fog or rain so you need to be really lucky if you want to witness the of the Lake. Tracks leading to the Lake are beautiful as well. For tourists, best time of the year, where they can behold the experience of this place without engulfing in fog or rain, is mid of July and August.
In order to reach the Lake, you have two options to choose from. First you can take the track from Lake Saif-ul-Malook or from Mahandri through Manoor Village. It takes around seven to nine hours of a for a round trip from Lake Saif-ul-Malook to Ansoo Lake. However, if you go for Mahandri trek through Manoor . From there a lush green meadow awaits you after 6-7 hours of trek. From here, another 3-4 hours of the trek from Meadow, Dher, at a of 14,000 feet, Ansoo Lake is all yours.
