Hello everyone,
I wanted to share some advice for newcomers regarding point transfers. We often get questions about whether you should transfer points to a particular rewards program or wait. Here are some key factors to consider when making this decision:
Travel Plans: Consider your upcoming travel plans. If you know you'll be staying at a Marriott property or booking a flight with Air France, transferring points can be highly valuable, especially if there's a transfer bonus like the one currently offered by Marriott.
Program Devaluation: Be aware that rewards programs can devalue their points at any time. For instance, the points cost for booking most Marriott hotels has increased significantly since COVID.
Given these factors, it's usually best to avoid transferring points unless you have a specific booking in mind or consistently use a particular program. In general, it's wiser to keep your Amex, Chase, Capital One, or Citibank points as they are and only transfer them when you have a concrete plan to use them.
I hope this helps! As always, we're here to answer any of your credit card-related questions.
