For those who miss the views of the mountains, I found another interesting view of Ama Dablam. I doubted whether to post it or not after the photo with the stupa. But then I thought that there is never a lot of Ama, and typed a few more different pictures into the carousel. I keep wondering how lucky I was to break into Nepal with this spring, as soon as they started to let tourists in and get out of there the day before the lockdown was announced. Not long before that, without knowing anything, I had successfully stocked up on equipment at . Apparently, everything was supposed to happen ☺️.

Story of the Herb Collectors of Himalayas 🌿

Legend has it in Ramayana, when Laxman was fatally wounded, it was a special herb from Himalayas that saved his life. Hence forth, the elusive herbs of Himalayas is known to the world.
However , very few know the herbs and where to find them in the high altitudes of Mountains. And among them the Shephard tribes of " Gaddis " are prime.

During the six months of high summer here in Himalayas ( May - October ) they live in the high altitudes ( above 4000 meters ). Here they tread their sheeps on meadows and search for the elusive herbs.

They know how to spot the tiny faunas among the dense foilage and pick up the herbs. A lot of herbs grow under the soil, and it takes an experienced eye to spot the shrubs above and go for the digging below.

Most of this herbs like mushrooms and gingers, are sold at a high price of 10000 - 15000 INR per kilo in markets down. Essential for production of medicines, the pharmaceutical industry is its highest buyer.

The herb Collectors , mostly ancient Himalayan tribes not only sell them, but also use them in their daily life. It is their secret to long-lasting healthy life , even after the harsh hardwork of their lifestyle, enduring the high altitudes.

In some of my encounters with them , I have learnt two or three herbs with such properties, and I am thinking , it will be good if I stay and learn with them the tricks of the trade, securing a future in another profession perhaps 😅

Got back from Kashmir Great Lakes trek last week and I just can't stop raving about this one.
Have been trekking for more than a decade now, and I have to say that this is undoubtedly one of the most beautiful treks with unparalleled trails.... Yes, the route was very crowded, but the lush green meadows, colorful wild flowers and pristine alpine lakes makes it very very special.
