See the delicious apple crumble? The guests staying at our cottage made it for us! Y’all, I looked like I’d won’t the Miss America pageant when she said they made us something to thank us. Food is one of my love languages — no doubt — but I loved that she said they were having a great time and it felt so homey and had all the things… so she baked for me! For someone who never learned to cook growing up, that’s a real gift! 💙💜❤️💚

When you stay in a cozy cottage on a working farm, occasionally you see things that convince you to drive slower down an “open” country road! I love that our guest told us about the cows out. I wish we were helping a neighbor put their cows back in their pasture, but those are my crazy Double Brown Cows!

If you’re traveling with your horses and like to keep them with you, it’s going to be about a 45-second commute from the front door to the pasture that will be available to people staying at the cottage!

Sneak peek very soon of the amazing decorating skills some people have. I am not some people, but I have friends who are!!

It will be open soon. We have a few things to work out.

We’re so close. Vent covers, k***s for cabinets, and a few tiny details! Taking down the wall was the best part of the reno, but the 70-year-old floors telling their story was the second best… that you can see. Of course putting in more floor joists and taking a wall up the four inches it was sagging was probably the best thing. Props to and his team for doing things the right way instead of the easy way!

Look how far we’ve come! It’s so close to being finished. I was there yesterday with all the blinds open. It was so light and airy compared to the dark cave it used to be! The kitchen floors had to be replaced, but the rest of the are original hardwood floors that are approximately 70 years old. The stories they could tell!

Moving right along! The wall is down and I love how open the cottage living space is now!Most of the kitchen floors had to be replaced because, at some point, plywood was nailed to it in a very determined manner so linoleum could go in there. We were able to salvage most of the original hardwood floors, though! Unfortunately, no treasure or treasure map was found under the cottage.

Things are moving right along at the cottage! Things you don’t think about — unless you watch HGTV like me — the importance of floor joists! Look at those gorgeous beams in there so the floor will no longer lean like we’re all drunk. That’s what happens when you’re done with demo and get out of the way and let professionals take over! And we’re still wondering who loved lime green that much and where the treasure is!

Find someone who brings a different kind of magic than you do! The Farmer can manhandle, Sawzall, and demo things all day… and carry big boards with 400 rusty nails sticking out of it! I prefer more calm and systematic tasks that allow me to focus and listen to a book. Whoever installed the carpet was very thorough with their 792,403 staples!
