Hundreds of elephants orphaned by drought and human activity have found a temporary home over the years in Nairobi National Park where the Sheldrick Wildlife Trust helps them recover and reintegrate into the wild. CBC’s David Common visited the park recently.

Honouring National Indigenous Peoples Day in Canada. ❤️

A sacred totem pole that has been in a Victoria, B.C. museum for over a century has been returned to its owners, the Nuxalk Nation. CBC’s Wawmeesh Hamilton takes us through its repatriation back home to Bella Coola, B.C. and he tells us what this homecoming means for the community.

Happy World Oceans Day! Healthy oceans are one aspect of the hydrologic cycle that allows our planet to be liveable today. Excited to play our role in supporting this fickle balance through projects including eelgrass meadow restoration as a Blue Carbon capture solution.

The intense hike to see these majestic creatures was worth it, despite the dense foliage, bugs, thorns, burrs, steep incline, high altitude and 100% humidity. To look into their eyes is such a profound experience. Thank you so much to the rangers who guided us, forging the path and keeping us safe, and to our incredible porters, especially Nathan, who helped haul us up the nearly vertical section of the climb.

African's "Ugly Five" is an unfair label in my opinion, especially when you look at the babies. There is always a good chance at seeing most of the creatures...

Africa's "Big Five" are what many people hope to see when they visit Africa. For various reasons the success of this can be pure luck based on the sheer cunning of the animals, and sadly poaching and other human wildlife conflict. Here we celebrate how fortunate we were to have some amazing opportunities to see all five.

The next "Collections" video from our recent Uganda and Kenya trip features an incredible cheetah chase. Spoiler alert! While the Topi does get away in the end, some of the pictures and footage may be disturbing to some viewers. Uganda / Kenya 2023 - Bird Collection!
Lots more to come, but I thought our feathered friends would be a nice place to start. There are over 1000 bird species in East Africa, and we saw so many above and beyond what is shown here. There are a few lucky finds like the rare Ardea Goliath Heron, and the Ostrich mating dance!

With over 1000 bird species in Eastern Africa, this is a glimpse of a few that were captured in pictures on our recent trip to Kenya and Uganda in February/M...

A good traveller is one who knows how to be a respectful guest. On our recent trip to Kenya we planted over 650 trees to offset our carbon footprint and contribute to the efforts of adding a green belt to offset drought with the help of these incredible kids. Happy to celebrate their efforts in recognition of March 21, 2023: Iinternational Day of Forests.

8 bags for 2 people seems like a lot, but there are MANY things that we’re taking for our adventures in Kenya and Uganda! Thank you to “Arena Sports” for all the soccer balls, “Inspire Dental” for all the toothbrushes and toothpaste, and Old Fort Elementary School for all the cards and support for the kids! We’ll be planting trees and setting up for our upcoming projects. This next year will be very exciting with the development of water harvesting systems, but the next 3 weeks will be a blast too.

COVID-19 Update: Safety is paramount not only for our clients, but also for our crew and international partners as we slowly adjust to this 'new normal' for travel. So far in 2022 we have tested the waters with trips to Kenya, Europe, Grand Cayman and Mexico. This has allowed us to personally experience the protocols regarding Covid-19, which vary all over the world. While the pandemic continues to shift, we are prepared to adjust for your safety. This will include communication throughout the planning process for each individual trip, as there are constantly changing testing, quarantine and vaccine requirements based on the destination.

On behalf of our expedition leaders and our international hosts, we are excited about getting back into the water, boarding the ships, hitting the trails and buckling into the safari vehicles as we gear up for the future. Check out our Upcoming Adventures!

COVID-19 Update: Safety is paramount not only for our clients, but also for our crew and international partners. While our amazing experiences have been on hold as we grieve with the world for those impacted and lost to the COVID pandemic, we are slowly adjusting to the new normal. This includes new protocols to keep everyone safe from the moment you first leave your home, continuing throughout your vacation, and until you return safely to your loved ones. We are cautiously optimistic about our trips planned for the end of November 2021, and are fully committed to taking every precaution for everyone involved. This means knowing when to hit pause if necessary; although we are excited about getting back into the water, boarding the ships, and stepping into the safari vehicles as we gear up for the future.
