On the night of April 23, 2022, our beloved family beach house burned to the ground. We’re grateful no one was hurt, and we plan to rebuild. Please stay tuned for updates.

We’re up on the third floor for today’s before and after. This is the media room, and it’s huge! With a game table for 6, movie seating for a crowd, a coffee bar and mini fridge, a workstation that overlooks the pool and peeks at the sea, and a covered deck with wide ocean views, it’s one of my favorite spots in the house. Once you get up here, you may never come down! But, as you know by now, it took some work to get here…

Saving the biggest changes for last! Here’s the ground floor, almost ready for guests. The pool area needs some finishing touches, but they’re well underway and will be complete this month. We’re so excited for this new space!

Come hang in the game room, won’t you? You might not have on Day One!

We took this musty storage garage and converted it into a bright play place with room for ping pong and cards or board games. When we first bought the house you could only access this space via the elevator or from the outside. That made getting here tough!

We added furniture, a full size fridge, removed the elevator, tucked the water heater in a closet and built…interior stairs!

This is now a great space for kids to hang out and an even better landing spot as we come and go from the pool to the beach and back again!

This took four trips to the dump, 10+ gallons of paint (and a sprayer and floor roller) and a talented construction crew.

Today’s before and after is a simple one - this is the main entrance to the house. We come through the screen porch into the dining area and what a difference some paint and furnishings made!

We left the house today and it is ready for the 2022 rental season! We’ll share videos of each floor very soon! So many changes in the 10 months and 3 weeks since we bought this pretty place by the sea.

Todays before and after is the dining area! This was one of our first projects. It seats all 16 people the house sleeps and the tables can easily slide together if guests want one large dining surface.

Once we took our the banquette booth, cleared the storm door blocking a window, and fixed all the broken window seals we were amazed by how much light this space gets. Adding the bubble light fixtures and painting it all white helped too!

Today’s before and after is full of bonuses! This is DanaDee Carragher’s room when she’s here, so naturally we call it the Queen’s room.

First, it’s the original primary bedroom in the house so you get to see what both the queen bedroom and the attached bathroom looked like when we bought the house. I’ve also included the Phase 1 makeover picture here so you can see what a quick cleaning and furniture update did.

For phase 2, we closed off the doorway that connected it to the current King primary. We couldn’t decide when we moved in if it was convenient or weird and after living with it a year the verdict is in. It’s weird. So, we closed it up and repositioned the bed. New lighting, furniture, paint, linens…you know the drill by now!

We also fully updated the attached bath with a new vanity, paint, hardware and flooring. Phase 3 (or later) will see new doors throughout the house, but that’s a job and post for another day!

Today’s before and after is the second original cottage bedroom, The Duck! Named because we’re a short bike ride (or a leisurely walk) from the small town that has everything, the Duck features all new paint, lighting, bedding and original artwork featuring her namesake bird!

Today’s before and after is one of the original 1963 beach cottage bedrooms. We call it the Flamingo, taking inspiration from our beloved Aunt Annie and a pillow we saw in the bedroom when we first toured the house.

Can you spot the flamingos in the before shot? Can’t miss them in the after!

This bedroom now has all new furniture, new paint, new lighting crisp white bedding and curtains, and a flock of friends to keep you company!

It was just about a year ago that we decided to buy Our Ocean’s Eight. We’ve done so much we sometimes hardly recognize her as we first laid eyes on her. We’re sharing some fun before and afters to show how far she’s come!

This is the hall bathroom shared by two queen bedrooms (now affectionately known as the Flamingo and the Duck).

Still lots of weeks left in April, May and early June. Come stay when the weather is gorgeous, the house is freshly ready for the season and the crowds are light!

Big changes happening! This owner maintenance trip was a big one.

🏊‍♂️ - planned the pool deck surround and fence

🌴 - met with the landscaper

🦩 - added a little flair to a queen bedroom

🦆 - updated the 🦩’s chiller neighbor

All three queen rooms got new lighting, updated linens, paint, and more!

📆 - added three updated work areas (although the one in the king primary looks a lot like a morning coffee spot too!)

🪑- began assembling brand new polywood furniture. Four down, 30+ pieces to go!

And biggest and best of all…🥁🥁🥁 we finally finished the kitchen! This kitchen has brand new cabinets for huge amounts of pantry storage, newly refinished countertops, a brand new deep sink (you won’t see dishes for days!) and updated pots, pans and appliances!

Summer weeks are going fast but we have lots of May, June and August time still open. Come stay with us!

Confidential word to those still reading: we’re getting WAY more done than we thought. We just thought we’d do a pool and stairs in 2022. All the rest of this stuff was on the 2023 list but you’re getting it at 2022 pricing because we published pricing early and then got super productive. Go figure! 🤣
