Enjoy a sauna and a cold water dip in Loch an Eilein. Not for the faint hearted at this time of year!

I’ve not tried this yet but this converted sauna in a hot box can be booked for up to 4 people. Looks fab!

Being an unwilling cyclist for many years I was talked into hiring electric bikes for a whole (😬) day.

Well let me tell you … GAME CHANGER!

We picked up our e-bikes at Ride Scotland in Boat of Garten, cycled to Nethy Bridge through some lovely forest trails at Loch Garten, stopping for coffee and cake at Nethy House. Then more trails to Ryvoan downhill past the bothy and green loch, next stop lunch at The Pine Marten Bar + Scran. Cut across the hill and back to Boat. 42km done! Great day out and definitely a loop we’ll be doing again.

Highly recommend the bikes and service from Ride Scotland.

It’s been a typical Scottish summer ☀️ ☔️ right enough! There’s still plenty to do even if the weather doesn’t play ball.

I’d recommend trying out Aviemore Escape Rooms (only 500m from the cottage) which we did earlier in the summer. They have 3 different rooms to choose from. Great fun! (Tbh we needed a few clues to get out!)

This week, Patagonia launches a new film documenting the resilient and passionate Cairngorm snow community in the Highlands of Scotland and their unmatched dedication to snowsports.

In Scotland, the word “thrawn” can mean “stubborn,” but it is stubborn for a good reason. The snow community in the Cairngorms take on a virtuous struggle to make the most of what’s available each season. Lesley McKenna, a local to the area and three-time Olympic snowboarder, was raised on this innate tenacity. She has spent her life pushing the boundaries of her sport and advocating for the people and place that shaped her. Her story, and that of her family is an example of what makes the community so special.

Lovely Autumnal visit to Balmoral, can be a day trip from your base in Aviemore. Sadly no tea with The King as he had just left that morning!! 🤴 ☕️

Scenic drive over the Cairngorms, with lunch stop at Goodbrand & Ross cafe and gift shop en route.

Only an hour from Aviemore, we’d recommend a visit to The Black Isle to see the dolphins at Chanonry Point followed by a lovely walk at The Fairy Glen, Rosemarkie.
